most people just underestimate the power and brand building that social media has

if Cal was a leader and innovator on social media it could improve recruiting, and I don't just mean the standard ones such as instagram, twitter and YT

it takes more creativity and work, then money to do it right, although funding strong media content creation is a definite plus.

here is just one example of how a coach makes a recruiting impact using social media. to my observation there is exactly 0 cal basketball coaches who do more than an occasional social media post, and those are mostly the vanilla type. I assume most cal coaches use social media to message recruits privately, but I'm talking more than that ....

Our WBB coaches have been active on social media for many years. Perhaps that kind of skill could be a requirement for the next MBB assistant we hire.
