Interesting article about Juan Toscano-Anderson and how he thrived after a very difficult upbringing. I did not know that he wanted to go to Cal, but his mother wanted to get him much farther away from Oakland. And at Marquette he only averaged 3.8 points per game. Some players just get better.

I remembered the recruiting battle between us and marquette for him (I believe he just went by Juan Anderson back then). Glad to see he has found his way to the NBA.

Oh right. Juan Anderson. I never made that connection. Now I remember. I wanted him to come to Cal, but most were not broken up when he went elsewhere. He needed some years, even past college, to build up his skills.

Yeah, I only made the connection when they mentioned he went to Marquette, which rang the bells of the recruiting battle over him. I think I was disappointed in the way we all are when we finish second to someone else, but if it was one of those cases where it was good for him to get away from home, can't really fault him for that.

Agreed. I remember things that were said that were not great when he went elsewhere. Bad look.
