This is a useless compilation of information. It reveals absolutely nothing of value. Or am I missing something?

I agree, the premise (who is the best of each cohort based on years of experience) is useless (who cares?Though it is nice that Fox won among the 16 year veterans).

However, there is some interesting info overall.

The data on the number of coaches at each level is interesting. It is clearly a pyramid with a lot of coaches at the bottom and few at the top. Most earn their longevity in the business with great success. Programs either hire proven winners or they hire unproven coaches hoping they will be winners. That is especially true at the P5 level. You have to have some level of success, especially in the Tournament, to stay employed.

In that way Fox is a bit of an anomaly which is why most media observers called his hiring by Knowlton "a head scratcher." Few coaches with his record, fired from a P5 program for his lack of success, would have been given another opportunity at another P5 program. Most would either have to take an assistant job, go into administration, take a lower level job, or retire from coaching with the $millions they have been paid and go into business.

It is also an interesting list of up and coming coaches, if that is ever something Cal is interested in.

Good point - If Knowlton had had this list the last time around, he could have saved the expense of employing an executive search firm!
