I believe that's part of an all-day Pac-12 Network hoops schedule

When you're picked last in conference, don't expect prime time time slots.

Yes. November 9 is the first day of the regular season.

It's so it won't conflict with a Matt Bradley game.

Dang it, I had noticed the 12/22 mid-afternoon game, but didn't notice the 11/9 early game. I had emailed my account rep to ask if the 12/22 time was a typo. After no fans being allowed last season, these mid-day weekday games are a big slap in the face to us fans.

Most season ticket holders are retired. They know that. It is a bad idea, though. Would not be happy if I was working, although I would take the day off.

UC San Diego? My brother played PG there (was originally going to play for Monty at Stanford). Largest UC, Some Cal students may be interested, most probably applied and have friends there. Otherwise will be a very sleepy Haas.

I think this is going to their first year in the Big West. Call it the UC league:

UC Irvine
UC Davis
UC Santa Barbara
UC Riverside
UC San Diego

I don't thinks it's accurate to say that MOST season ticket holders are retired. In my ticket group of 6 relatives and friends, only 1 is retired. Scheduling like this might drive more working fans to drop their season tickets though, so the percentage of retired season ticket holders might be on the rise soon.

FWIW: Because all 12 Pac-12 teams are playing a men's hoops game on opening day, Nov. 9, playing the game vs. UC San Diego at 2 pm instead of later in the day gets the game full Pac-12 Network coverage, rather than just on the app or the Bay Area-only subchannel.

Some Bear fans always find something to complain about. Why not just be happy there are Cal games to go to now? I suggest you all go to as many games as you can. The Admin or the government could change their mind on a whim, and close the arena indefinitely again.

I think they could have done this over a two night schedule, instead all games on one day.

Asking fans to show up at 2 PM on a Tuesday for a game is pretty ridiculous. It's pretty much asking fans not to attend. Really, really dumb.

OK, my apologies. I agree with you. I went to Cal in an era where most of the fans in the arena for Cal games were students. The West side of Harmon and both ends Opposing team students on the lower part of the East side. Alumni didn't seem to be a priority.
