I am in on him! This is from two years ago. Will try to find something newer.

Great news! And it looks like he plays a position of need.

They are all positions of need. But even two years ago this guy looks very, very promising, I can only imagine where he is now.

Are we establishing a pipeline from Ireland?

Here he is more recently. Number 22 in white. Good size and movement. Need to become a little more active and to develop his basketball skills. Reminds me of Thorpe among recent players, but will come in at a higher level.

I doubt many five-stars are flying under the radar. So far most of Fox's surprises have come from other countries.

Uh oh, word on social media is that the environmental groups on campus have organized a protest for tomorrow about Cal Basketball having built a pipeline from Ireland.

Edit: I see that stu totally scooped me with this insight.

To be fair, they are not supposed to discuss recruits until they sign and Okafer committed immediately when offered.

Helping others is what I think success is

ND Okafor

This shows me a good deal of maturity.

(I say this knowing that my own maturity level is sometimes questionable)

Excellent news and good point raised that Basketball staff's do not publically discuss prospects/status, until signing. Nice to see a solid recruit sign and at least for now, quiet the naysayers.

One good signing does not a good coach make. Fox had Caldwell-Pope at Georgia and that still didn't do much to move the needle.

I'm shocked, surprised, and very impressed. Love his highlights. This is a big signing.

I hope it's the real deal, but it's not a signing until he actually signs something and the window for doing that is . . . sometime early November?

Well, his quotes seem to suggest certainty. Thankfully, with the early signing period in November, it's not one of those cases where he can see the season before he signs (which has caused a big issue on the FB side ).

Why do you think that the naysayers are unhappy? And how long have you been following this recruit such that his commitment is something you feel should "quiet the naysayers"? You think this staff is playing 4D chess instead of just whiffing on every priority target?

Great get. Change the subject to "Commits to Cal" cause I just figured this was another swing and a miss ;-)

foreign born players seem to have a much better understanding of the value of a CAL education. also better to get the immigrant work ethic on the team. americans are way too entitled.

The good news is, he has committed while already knowing that we have sucked lately, so he has taken that into account.

I'm not knocking the "naysayers" Speaking only for myself:

There's a surreal, dream-like quality to this whole thing....I just want to feel good about it for however long the "the dream" lasts........always keeping in mind that

We'll always have Paris

Don't get me wrong - I too would love for the Bears to excel on the court. I wish it so, tho I also recall what Bad Santa said about wishing. But I just don't see the need to silence the naysayers - I'd say they have some pretty legitimate gripes.

Expectations were high. It was Fox's most highly rated team, filled with great athletes. Cal went to Georgia and beat that team 70-46. The difference in coaching was glaring.
