BI has put up a poll: "What's your view of the leadership of the Cal Men's Basketball Program under Mark Fox?"

I don't know if anyone in athletic administration follows BI but this may be the only opportunity most of us get to influence the decision.

Those polls, I often wish I could write an additional choice to reflect my exact opinion...

So there's an issue and somebody writes 3-4 different opinions on it and asks you to check a box to say which is yours... but none of them quite express what your opinions is.

In this particular case, I guess the second one listed is the closest.

I'd like more choices but it looks like the results of this one will be clear.

The third choice, "Don't have an opinion" might also get some votes, given recent interest in Cal Basketball.

The choice with by far the most votes is: "didn't vote"

Most of us go past the main page so the limited number of responses to the BI poll wouldn't be indicative of the number of folks that would sign an online petition IMO, especially since the casual fan, who doesn't post about Cal stuff online and stopped following Cal basketball over the last few years, would also be a candidate to sign an online petition.

I only respond to polls fashioned by B.A. Bearacus, Hero of the Jugurthine War.

This poll is slowly closing in on the largest number of responses to a BI poll in the last few years. The vast majority of the polls concern football and I'm sure Cal football has a lot more fans than Cal basketball. That tells me there's real concern about the basketball program.

18%? Sheesh. Did Fox set up a bot to vote?

After the first couple of days Fox had 6%, which was at least well ahead of No Opinion at 1%. So the late-responding results are definitely different. No idea why - any pollsters out there?

Jimbo probably having interns vote positively to make it seem like a group of fans do support his boy Fox and thus the extension was well deserved.

Not sure Jimbo is that smart. Moreover, follow the money: It is worth $millions to Fox. Probably interns working for his agent. His agent can then point to the results as a reason for Jimbo to extend. Jimbo, who wants to believe anyway, probably believes it. Bank.

I can believe that. His agent must be stoked he got his client such a low pressure job. Im sure negotiating against Jimbo is a breeze for his agent.

The unwashed masses were quick to make emotion-based, knee-jerk reactions to express their frustration. Astute observers, however, rather than weighing in immediately, used a comprehensive study of advanced analytics to reach an enlightened understanding of our situation, coming to the conclusion that Fox "needs one more year, given rebuild requirements and COVID".

(i actually typed the above with a straight face, although i will admit that it wasn't easy)

As of today the poll seems to be closed with 500 votes counted.
17% one more year
78% time for a change
5% no opinion

Now we get to opine on far more important questions about spring football practice.
