Holmgren actually has skills. He would embarrass Vanover one on one.
Certainly agree that Musselman would not have fit well in Berkeley. He can coach but his recent squads at both Nevada and Arkansas were built largely with transfers. How many of them do you think he could have gotten in at Cal? I don't think Cal's academic standards are necessarily a barrier to success, but it is not an easy entry for transfers, especially of the grad variety. Vanover never looked like a good fit for Musselman's physical, take no prisoners style of defense. IMO, Gonzaga's failure to hit many good open looks in the first half was their undoing. In the second half they stopped running and weren't getting those open looks and the game devolved into slower grinding pace that was exactly what the Hogs wanted to see. I suspect Houston's win over Arizona was very similar. Run and gun teams look pretty ordinary when they can't run and are firing blanks.Big C said:
