With a little help from others UCLA has to face a #8 seed then a #3 or #15 seed to reach the Final Four. I don't always root for UCLA but this is as good a time as any.
Also Washington State is headed to Madison Square Garden after 3 comfortable wins.
The problem with the #8 seed is that UNC can play like a #1 seed, but they're a #8 because they can also play like a team struggling to make the NIT. In the NCAA tourney (except for the last 9 1/2 minutes of the second round, after the bogus flagrant 2) and in the Coach K final at Cameron Indoor, they have played like the former. In their last game of the ACC tourney, they played like the latter. UCLA needs to hope the latter shows up.
Nice wins for WSU at SMU and at BYU, both teams closer to making the tourney than the Cougs. If those wins were in the regular season, WSU would have had 2 Quad 1 wins, and at least a shot at the tourney, instead of being 0-6 in Quad 1 and having no shot.
