But get this, winning and playing in March Madness are a must.

Well at least we made his Elite 8:

We are the only power 5 in the hunt. He knows the Conference of Champions gets more teams in the Big Dance then where he was. It would be a-leap of faith. I predict he will come here.

UConn, Butler & Xavier are Big East. Wichita St is AAC. Although not P5 football (P12, SEC, ACC, B12, B10), Big East (and sometimes AAC) are generally considered power conferences in Mens Basketball.

All of those programs seems likelier to get him to the Big Dance than Cal. He seems well traveled, so maybe the west coast has some appeal.

My favorite part of following Fox's recruiting: he has no geographical preference.

You'd think he'd have strong connections in the Atlanta/South area, nope.

Strong connections in the Midwest since he's from Kansas? Nope.

Strong west coast connections because of Nevada and 3 years at Cal? Nope.

International? Just Lars really. I credit Okafor to Alajiki.

Same with assistants. Zero evidence of any sort of pipeline.

Doubtful. Win somewhere else (all of those have a better chance of wins) or get double or triple teamed here with no chance of making it to the CBI, let alone March Madness. To me, it seems like a courtesy nod.

This is exactly what you want from your head coach.. a 100% scattershot, throw everything at the wall and see what sticks approach that has no organizing principles or any focus on areas that might be cultivated.

He's not coming here.
He wants March Madness and winning, two things Fox CAN'T provide.

That kind of strategic vision is worth every penny of his $1.7 million annual salary.

But again, the real culprit is Knowlton (really Christ, for hiring Knowlton). Mark Fox established who he is as a basketball coach at Georgia. What you see is what you get. He is not changing. That is just not his personality. The list of excuses and others to blame will just grow.
