I was in a restaurant and the game was on, and saw this play

I don't remember a worst foul call then this, especially in the 4th quarter of a NBA playoff game for the sixth foul on a franchise player

I'm not a CP2 fan, and wanted Mavs to win this game, but this was just so bad

You mean CP3. Paul wears number 3, so he's CP3.

Paul did grab the arm, but it was a soft foul call. Not the worst I've ever seen, and we'll probably see something worse very soon, but it was soft.

PAC-12 refs call that as a foul all day long. NBA? Not so much.

Bad call but I absolutely loved the 5th foul call. And knowing Paul he probably got away with a few others that didn't get called.

*Brunson is a tough match-up

*Not a CP3 fan, but he knows how to win

CP3 won't get any love from officials. That replay of him grabbing Brunson's arm and pulling it into his midsection and flailing makes the NBA look like a clown show. I was thrilled he got called for the 5th foul. That crap (stopping short of a defender in the back court) is trash. Play the game! Stop trying to draw fouls.

Last year I absolutely hated the Sun's for cheap play and flopping. I believe Chris Paul taught their guards to be made of glass and pretend to be fouled (lift head up and backward) whenever driving around someone. Thankfully, the NBA is trying to cut down on flopping and the Suns have been more watchable.

I'll echo what everyone else is saying.

Yes the 6th foul was soft. And if I were the ref I probably don't have the balls to call it

With that said, was it deserved? F yeah it was

CP3 is doing stuff like that the entire game, we as a tv viewing audience just don't see it all the time. He is constantly trying to game the system. Constantly fouling people with slight little tugs and pulls that don't seem consequential but they are. He's constantly flailing, flopping whining. It makes the product worse, and it's in the nba's best interest to cut that crap out of the game.

So I was absolutely ecstatic to see that crew starting to call all that BS that CP3 does. Especially foul 5 and 6. He's going to keep doing that S until he's called on it.

If this is the trend going forward (which I doubt it will be) that would be huge for the warriors when they have to face the suns next round.

Chris Paul is one of my favorite players.

I watched him almost every game when he was on the Clippers and he was a joy to watch.

He's a team player, a leader, and having him on the floor elevates the play of any team he is on.

He's a little guy, built very slight, so he does what he does to try to be able to keep up with bigger, faster, stronger players - even more so that he's gotten older and slower than he was.

I don't see that as dirty.

I would love to see CP3 win a title.

Ok for a second let's put aside all of his bs antics, flopping, pulling, tugging, rip moves, etc and just call that competing in the gray area.

But can we at least agree hitting someone in the nuts is dirty?





That's just the nut punching. There's entire clips of him trying to trip people, hit people, pull people down while in midair

Should he be able to get away with that crap just because he's smaller and "needs" to do these things to compete with bigger, faster players?

I didn't see any of the first 5 calls, and I don't like CP3. I am impressed with him as a basketball player, but hate his flopping. I also hate it when players jump into a defender to draw a shooting foul.

the game is hard enough to officiate already

I'm happy they at least now have a flop penalty

Chris Paul is a really cerebral player. He also grew up with a lot of brothers much bigger than he was.

He learned to do what he needed to do and what he can get away with.

Now, that doesn't mean he should hurt other players. I don't condone that, but I've never heard of Chris Paul going Bruce Bowen on someone. Most of the plays you showed involved incidental contact.

That said, Bleacher Report put together a list of 25 dirtiest player in history.

You will be happy to know Chris Paul made the list. So did Michael Jordan, Tim Duncan, and Kobe Bryant.

The NBA is a much more physical sport than people give it credit for.

I think it is significant that you grew to like him while rooting for him on the Clippers (also an underdog team). He is the type of player who you really hate if on the other team. Matt Barnes when he was at UCLA. Bill Lambier on Detroit. Draymond Green for everyone who is not a Warrior's fan.

I don't think he is nearly as slight as he was his first few seasons. Bulked up as least as much as Steph Curry, if not more.
