Gee whiz, were they awful. This could be a very long season.

The Giants are out of it. The A's are in the tank.

When do the Warriors start their season? Not soon enough, I fear.

Cal is undefeated.

Become a Chargers fan. Herbert is fun to watch. Thursday against KC should be a barn burner.

Starting with the 1967 season, I was a die-hard Oakland Raider fan, but I always did kinda like the Chargers, particularly Lance Alworth. The first game I attended at the Coliseum, Alworth caught a TD and the Raiders lost. So I was sorta bummed, but not entirely. So yeah, I can get behind the Chargers.

Do you remember Bambi doing a down and out pattern in the end zone at the Coliseum into the wall and ending up down and out? I don't know the year, but I remember the play.

I don't remember the play, but that's a great SI article. When was the last time you heard a blitz called a "red dog"? And of course, the 49ers drafting Alworth as their top choice and failing to sign him. Classic!

Got hooked up with then Niners owner Jane Morabito (and her son) at Quail Lodge Golf Course in 1968 on the 1st tee with my Dad when I was 13. She was very nice.

I like the Chargers too, though a lot of fun QBs to watch in the NFL these days. Chargers do have Keenan Allen as a star go-to receiver and Richard Rodgers Jr is on their practice squad.

Richard played in the game against LV and Keenan was spectacular until he pulled a hammy.

I feel better now. That game felt like a college game, with the offensive linemen and Jimmy G. all hugging each other at the end, the difference being all those players are multi-millionaires. Sad that it took a broken ankle to make this happen, though. And Cal nearly pulling it out against Notre Dame at the last second the day before helped a lot too. If only Hunter had held on to that puppy.

Always feel bad when a player gets injured like that, but at least now we don't have to put up with the constant media stories about Lance struggling and Jimmy looking over his shoulder and let's all speculate as to when Shanahan is finally going to make the move.

…and Goff 4 TD's.

As a former life long Raiders fan, I was pleased that a Super Hero like Kyler Murray erased a 20 point lead and showed LV what a real competitor and winner looks like. My favorite play was his 20 second scramble behind scrimmage before running it over the goal line.
