I'd have to respectfully disagree. it is not an either/or decision. Several factors go into who gets to play the most minutes and when. If you believe in Don Nelson, it is all about matchups. This has to be factored in. The different abilities that Lars and Okafor bring to the table is a factor. Which one is more capable of playing the high post, and which one better in the low post, with his back to the basket. Do we want to play in the halfcourt, or to we want to run? And the different levels of experience. Also, a coach needs to be careful in how to play each player. He will be trying not just to give a player experience, but he needs to be careful about playing a freshman in situations where might fail, so he can learn from those mistakes, but if the player begins to lose confidence, then the coach needs to reduce his minutes. You always want to put a player where he will be most likely to succeed. That may be starting, or coming off the bench. As Nelson says, it is about matchups.
