Went to my first game of the season. I have been horrified by the start of the season but wanted to go to support the players.

The atmosphere, as others have touched on, was just horrible for a PAC 12 opponent. No energy, seemed like we were playing SE NW Miss State or something. I think student attendance was better than expected due to the flag giveaway. But very few of them were really into the game.

The team seems listless and are just going through the motions. The slow down style of play is boring and not fun to watch. The players seem to have tuned out Fox.

We had a great group of former Cal players there, but it seemed really pathetic to hear such a lukewarm response from the nearly empty Haas.

Any rational person would say the Fox era is over. Knowlton was there, he should have met with Fox after the game and ended it.

I don't know who on the current staff should take over, but at this point it just doesn't matter. This is major college basketball, you just don't let a coach who is multiple years into his career at the school stay when you go 0-8 to start the season.

Seeing all of those former players was just a reminder of the exciting teams and players we have had over the years. It is just pathetic and sickening that Fox is still there. I don't know if a change will do much, but clearly a new message/approach is necessary.

Fox (and Knowlton) have burned the program to the ground!! Time for a reset!!

Do you trust Knowlton to pick the new replacement coach ? I do not. I am not a big enough donor to get a call about the buyout and new coaching package. I don't know what I would say to our AD.

No, but it literally can't be any worse barring some sort of major scandal. We're 0-8 and there's no talent on the roster. At least under Wyking you could close your eyes and imagine a lot of those players being pretty good with a competent coach (and they are).

Once it finally happens, everyone, especially donors, needs to put total pressure on Knowlton to form an executive group of former players, Braun, Monty and other competent people to advise (and consent) on who the next coach will be.

Honestly, if you tell me Cal goes winless this season and ask me if Fox will be fired, the most I can muster is probably. I will not be seeing it as a sure thing until a formal announcement is made. So I'm not really in a "once it finally happens" phase.

And with the exception of the Tedford hiring, Cal just doesn't do things that way (and I've lobbied for that forever). I would assume it will be a search firm and Knowlton and the best we can hope for is he is required to take a good training on why affinity hiring leads to crappy employees.

If this was a heavyweight fight, it would have been stopped by now. If it was a little league game it would have been stopped by now. But our athletic "director" is far from a heavyweight and less sophisticated than little league…so the sad situation will be allowed to slog on…can't wait for the Sports Illustrated type spread on the worst ever program.
