Went to my first game of the season. I have been horrified by the start of the season but wanted to go to support the players.
The atmosphere, as others have touched on, was just horrible for a PAC 12 opponent. No energy, seemed like we were playing SE NW Miss State or something. I think student attendance was better than expected due to the flag giveaway. But very few of them were really into the game.
The team seems listless and are just going through the motions. The slow down style of play is boring and not fun to watch. The players seem to have tuned out Fox.
We had a great group of former Cal players there, but it seemed really pathetic to hear such a lukewarm response from the nearly empty Haas.
Any rational person would say the Fox era is over. Knowlton was there, he should have met with Fox after the game and ended it.
I don't know who on the current staff should take over, but at this point it just doesn't matter. This is major college basketball, you just don't let a coach who is multiple years into his career at the school stay when you go 0-8 to start the season.
Seeing all of those former players was just a reminder of the exciting teams and players we have had over the years. It is just pathetic and sickening that Fox is still there. I don't know if a change will do much, but clearly a new message/approach is necessary.
Fox (and Knowlton) have burned the program to the ground!! Time for a reset!!
