Cal is 0-8 to Louisville's 0-7, so they're better, right? Louisville actually lost an exhibition game (they also beat Chaminade in their other exhibition game).

Louisville has a good shot at 0-9, Cal is virtually guaranteed to go 0-9. If they do, both have a shot to end the winless streak against a directional school, Louisville hosting Western Kentucky, Cal hosting Eastern Washington.

The battle between Cal and Louisville could get interesting, but Louisville has a better shot at getting to 3 OOC wins than Cal (although not impossible for Cal if the Bears somehow beat Santa Clara). Louisville will likely end up with more conference wins than Cal.

The race, however, is by no means over, and Louisville shouldn't get too cocky. I'm assuming the race is to avoid being the worst major conference team in the country, as opposed to being the worst major conference team in the country, but whichever it is, the race could go either way.

I hereby formally apologize to the 33% of Kentucky that is reasonable….but not to those two goofs or to any others that bash our state, particularly the Bay Area, every opportunity they get.

That is a low class posting. I share the frustration and disappointment of Cal basketball fans, but we do not need to lower ourselves to insulting entire states. Even if Cal basketball is pathetic right now, we still have our dignity and excellent academics.

I agree. There was no reason to insult shytehole states by comparing them to Kentucky. They had no dog in this fight.

Kentucky is a FRAUD of a state that relies on Net Federal Govt. Hand-Outs to exist.

Comment: We suspect Cal's ranking is the lowest ever for a Pac-12 team in either the NET or RPI. It's hard to be this bad, folks.

The computer ranking seem somewhat meaningless when you are winless through 9 games, and you have a lot of losses to pretty bad teams.

Eastern Washington at least has won 3 games.

NET Rankings have Cal lower than anybody else, but is it inaccurate in any way? Impossible to tell.

But we have a chance tomorrow at victory, Eastern Washington at home.

Realistically, however, there is a chance we could get a win at home against that Big Sky powerhouse Eastern Washington and get to 1-9 while Louisville may go to 0-10 (0-8 but next games vs. Florida St. and a Western Ky. team much higher in the ratings)! Suck it, Louisville! Go Bears!

I'm thinking of empathy and irony. This society creates winners and losers in life as well as in sports. Enduring recent losses in sports has moved my needle a bit regarding the importance of sports and the feelings of those who have lost in life.
