Bronny (son of LeBron) James' debut for his senior year of high school came into my youtube feed, and I was curious to see it, having seen him play in person as a freshman. He has improved a lot and looks like a good college player, though he is not really tall enough for the NBA with his mix of skills. As the video was ending I noticed the opponents were Rancho Christian, the high school of Cal recruit Rodney Brown. So I watched a second time paying attention to Brown (#5).
My review is "oh my, he is really good." Brown handles the ball great with both hands. He uses a lot of hesitation to great effect. He has good vision and can pass with either hand. He can hit the 3 and pull up in the lane and hit, though the video does not show misses. He is a good run and jump athlete. He glides through the game and is so smooth it looks like he is not giving full effort, and maybe he isn't, it is hard to tell. I don't know how good his opponents, Sierra Canyon, are, but they were #1 in the country a few years ago and have had multiple first round picks in the last 5 years, so at least they must be pretty good.
If all continues as it should, he will play in the NBA. There has been hype for Fox's recruits that was totally misplaced, including for Okafor this year. I guess no one believes Cal can recruit a top player any more, but they have. If he changes his mind with all the losing, ...
