This is the most pathetically sad thing I've ever seen.

You know any opportunity Fox has, he will try and inflate that number. He will be spouting this narrative the rest of his coaching career when anyone ever mentions his 2-3 win season.

Don't tell me that this was not a retirement ceremony for Chuck's jersey.

If our players miss a combined 7 more games the scenario will plug perfectly into a Stephen Stills song:

"Forty nine reasons all in a line
All of them good ones all of them lies
Driftin' with my lady we're oldest of friends
Need a little work and there's fences to mend"

42 is also The Answer. (Ask Douglas Adams, not Jim Knowlton.)

I predict that when Knowlton finally ends this nightmare, Fox will never be a head coach anywhere, ever, hopefully.....So let him take his excuses with him into retirement...The sooner the better....

No. Jackie Robinson.
Oh wait. He played at UCLA.
(Nevertheless, it wouldn't be a bad idea to retire his number in all sports.)

I was surprised by the utah state results because the rumor out there was cal did pretty good (although the reference was vague)

Well, bear in mind who those rumors came from. Many of them refuse to face reality about Fox and this program. Rod nailed it right off the bat that he didn't think we would win a game. That's as damning as it gets.

The amount of coach/AD propaganda that comes out of our football and basketball programs and is spread by our insiders is disheartening.
This is the fundamental issue I have with Knowlton- he doesn't seem to believe Cal is a great place to win. In my 1 conversation with him, as well as his public remarks, he constantly defaults to "how difficult of a situation" Fox inherited, and then the long list of excuses begin: COVID, no practice facility, NIL, fan apathy.

OMFG. They did not put this up! What a fu-king embarrassment. Cal is dead to me…

Knowlton and Fox should both be fired just for this alone.

Did we do this when Grigsby, Powe, Hardin, Kamp, Bird, Wallace, ie almost any other year when players are hurt? This is CYA excuse making disguised as marketing.
I don't know if I'm more annoyed that they did it, or more annoyed that they think we're stupid enough to actually buy that excuse. This reinforces my current approach of making modest donations to the College of Engineering and zero donations to the AD.

Wow spot on for everything except saying that we are small. We are not. But we still get outrebounded. It is the coaching.
When Thiemann goes out we're quite small in the front court.

Okafor 6'9
Kuany 6'9
Newell 6'8

We have 9 players listed at 6'7 or more.

Rod Bentsen was listed at 6'10
That's small in the front court. Ivan Rabb, listed at 6'11, couldn't stay at C for us even though it would've made our offense so much better.
No reason he couldn't have but for an offensively limited coaching mind in charge.

I was there an hour early and did not see it but the 2000 people that were there likely did not see it either, depending when it was shown. So whats the point showing it? ' Hello you idiots who are still here and think we have a bad coach, actually he is great. The dam players wont do what he says and keep getting injured."

Response from loyal ticket holders expected. " Why Martha I did not know this, did you? Lets buy extra season tickets and tell all our friends!" Idiots one and all. Brought to you by the idiots that put all the t shirts in the student section when none came due to finals.possible quote from the idiots who run the canned music" Gee where are all the students? Lets turn up the music. Maybe the Baby Boomers will go get the students."

they also tried to make the number as big as possible to get to 42

it wasn't enough to say 3 players have not played this season due to injury

i assume the 42 number includes the injured freshman walk on

"42" really could be the meaning to life when you need to find a number of excuses to match your pile of losses, without any of those excuses pointing to the buck stopping with the coach or AD. Douglas Adams would be proud.

Isn't it almost beyond belief?

"Here's an idea, Jim: As the fans walk in, they will glance up at the scoreboard and we will have for them a clever agglomeration of all possible excuses, in order to try and explain why we lose all our games!"

We could use that theme for halftime entertainment: "Are you smarter than a Bear coach? Name as many excuses as you can in 30 seconds."
