Texas is moving to the SEC. Mark Fox has a lot of experience in the SEC, he'd be a great hire for Texas.

Edit. I see they pulled the trigger on canning him.

This! Texas is a sleeping giant that someone like Fox can turnaround really quickly. He has experience turning around programs as you surely must know.

Exactly. Mark Fox is the Sonny Dykes of basketball, the only difference is he is great defense instead of great offense. Texans know California is not good at sports. If Mark Fox goes to Texas he will have the. In the National Championship game, just like Dykes has TCU in the National Championship game.

I'd be super sad but would totally understand if Texas buys out Fox's contract and takes him away from us.

There's a reason why our AD recently gave Fox a year's extension! The reason Fox hasn't quite been able to turn things around here yet is that Cal doesn't have the administration and NIL support that a school like Texas surely has. Nobody can win at Cal; just look at Sonny Dykes!

Mark Fox + Texas = Final Four!

Multiple Final Fours, in fact. He might even break Coach K's record for taking a team to the most Final Fours. Even Wooden's record number of titles would not be safe once they combine the tradition of Texas excellence with the unmatched coaching acumen of Mark Fox.

Fox's record this season at Cal is easily explained by the unprecedented number of injuries. Texas Longhorns would never get injured like that. They are tough, not some flower-wearing hippies.

It looks to me like Chris Beard should have played Devin Askew more when he had him, instead of using him to warm the bench. Under Mark Fox, Devin Askew so far is the most improved player in D1 since the 2022 season, if we look at scoring alone, averaging 16 points per game, as opposed to 2 points per game under Chris Beard at Texas. Go figure.

This was in sarcasm. More a comment that other places are likely to move on coaches that could be here instead of fox. Maybe TX will go after Gates.

Agreed. Texas is only ranked #6 and only beat Gonzaga by 19. They could be even better. They need a great developer of talent like Mark Fox! If Fox can get Askew from 2 to 16 ppg, (ie 8x) imagine if he did that for the entire Texas roster? They would beat Gonzaga by more than 100!

From your lips to the Texas' ADs ears, calumnus.

The stability that Fox would bring is key.

He's an Eastern New Mexico (practically Texas) grad, who is a veteran of the SEC (Texas' new conference). Hiring him would be a no-brainer, but better jump before Knowlton gives him a raise and extends him again.

Can we set up a fund to buy airline tickets and hotel stay for Fox to go to Texas for a job interview?

Hook'em Horns, Hire Fox!

Fox will go to Texas and have them playing in the Final Four before you know it a la Dykes.

And, as with Dykes, I would be okay with that.

Knowlton would surely counter with a well-deserved raise and 6 year extension. Texas needs to act fast or they won't get him.
