quite the tussle between Andre Kelly and UC Davis' Ty Johnson... very ugly and sure to be suspended

Looking at two angles (here, here) but can't tell if Coach PasterKick got into the melee, but Kelly looks like he's the instigator after Johnson got in his face

Santa Barbara paper buries it deep in the recap

Note former Cal recruit Miles Norris on UCSB's team ( another pac12 transfer)

Thanks for that. Being elderly myself I avoid front-row seats, even when they're empty. Fights are rare but I don't need 250-lb athletes chasing loose balls landing in my lap.

Looks like no punches were thrown, which is good to see.

Notice in the second video how Davis' assistant coach, Jono Metzger-Jones-Jones, pushes Andre Kelly's head down and then pulls his ear/hair at the end. I thought coaches were supposed to be peacemakers. As mentioned, no punches thrown.

I can't find any subsequent game consequences from a Flagreat 2 foul, which both players received. Perhaps because it was a scuffle, it may be subject to conference action?

The Gauchos are now 20-4, Joe's 5th 20 + game win season of six and that 6th year was impacted by 4-5 games cancelled due to Covid so , so he likely would be 6-6.

Santa Barbara is at home Wednesday in the big game vs a a real tough Irvine team and if Kelly faces suspension, this will be very difficult, adding that their star frosh Koat Keat Tong, got hurt and did not play in the second half. Without Kelly and maybe Tong, the Irvine strength of big men may be too much.

PS, Metzger -Jones was suspended by UC Davis for one game per their official website.

Not everyone here is aware of De La Salle initiation rites.

I may have told this story before, but as a Warrior fan in their early days in San Francisco, I remember one game where they were on the road, playing in Detroit. There was no TV, so I was listening to the game on the radio. At one point a fight began between Warrior guard Al Attles and Detroit forward Bob Ferry. Attles (6'-0', 175 lbs) was known as "The Destroyer" for his toughness, while Ferry was 6'-8", 240 lbs. Wilt Chamberlain of the Warriors felt this was a mismatch that should not be happening. He ran over to the fight, grabbed Ferry, picked him up, and tossed him 6 rows up into the stands, which were fully occupied by fans. The fight was over. The announcer did not mention if there were any casualties among the fans sitting in the area where Ferry landed.

That Aggie set the whole ruckus in motion by flopping when Kelly shoved him.

Agree that was one heck of a flop by the Aggie. It looks like all Andre did was to wrap up the guy and take him to the floor--no punches.

Andre did shove/push him away before tgst, then wrapped him up in a bear hug and took him to the ground.

Wish he was still a Bear.

Andre Kelly will miss their big showdown v Irvine tonight as a result of the one game suspension for the "fight." Also Gaucho 6-10 Frosh Koat Keat Tong, who is developing into a force for them backing up Norris and Kelly, got injured and did not play in the second half so is likely doubtful tonight.
