Where is Shantay Legans when we need him

Building a smaller program, probably looking to move up (hint, hint*)

Decent little team there, with Legans at point and Shipp and Wethers on the wings. (not great, but decent... I'd kill for "decent" lately)

* Shantay might not be our best choice, but then again, maybe he is.

That had to be one of the few times he came through. He would go 0-10 from the arc…..until the last 2 minutes of a game Cal was down 20….then he was 4-4.
He was a long line of Cal defectors to Fresno State (including, but not limited to, Dominic McGuire and Tremaine Fowlkes).

Legans was a good player for us, especially his first two years when, both years, he was second in scoring (behind only Lampley) and lead the team in assists and steals.

I never dug his game. I assume he figured incoming Richard Midgely was going to replace him so he Bulldogged it.

I actually liked Tremaine and Dominic and hated losing them to Fresno State.
I remember years ago in the Parade insert to the Sunday paper they had a feature on the highest paid and lowest paid NBA player that year. I can't remember the highest paid player (it may have been Shaq), but the lowest paid was Dominic.*

*He has career earnings of $6.6M….I'd take that for sure.

As a junior his three point shooting fell off and Gates and Diggs were comparable, plus we had the highly rated, but disappointing, Donte Smith.

The main thing was his mentor Ray Lopes got the head coaching job at Fresno State (following Tarkanian). Legans went there and was their leading scorer averaging 15 pts, 5.6 assists, 2.8 rebounds and 1.4 steals per game. He then played professionally for a few years in Europe, but his goal was to follow Lopes into coaching.

I recall Legans saying the biggest mistake he made was leaving Cal. But i cant find that quote so maybe I remembered wrong.

I remember something to that effect too.

I think if he wanted into coaching, Braun would have been a good mentor.

I remember when Matt "Chickensh@it" Barnes clubbed Legans on the back of the head from behind with his forearm as Legan's was taking the ball up Court resulting in a face plant, knocked unconscious and concussed, in that order. That was a criminal assault and should have been so charged by the Alameda County DA.
I used to laugh watching Barnes in the NBA. When a dust up came, he was all bark and no bite, confirming his coward credentials he established in the Legans assault.

*I forgot the Barnes assault of Legans was also the FUCLA headband game. Headbands are dorky enough, but when you are losing the game and every player on the team is wearing one, it has a distinct Washington Generals/Clown vibe.
*The reference to 12,000 fans at Haas is depressing.

Was that the game or another that Barnes spat into the Cal student section?

Was that the incident where the student's head moved back and to the left?

Bears cover the spread.

Spread was 16.5 so…

To say we didn't cover is an understatement
