Right now, I'm thinking that if this game somehow ended 79-50, we could declare it a moral victory.

Cal failed to cover by 11.5. I was wrong. Cal would have covered a 40 point spread.

Kuany did good things tonight - he's one guy who has improved quite a bit in his time at Cal. Wish he could stay here another 4 years.

After games I usually post about players who have good games, but today it's hard to say any player did
The closest were brown with 10 points and 3 steals but he had no assists to 4 bad unforced turnovers
And 2K with 14 inefficient points and 5 rebounds
But everyone else had really bad games, and I think uvcla bench players out scored our (mostly) starters

Well there was only 1 walk on at the end. Many of those players were ranked including a top 30 player
Just shows how deep they are
2K would be a good guy off the bench for like 10-15 minutes. That he has to provide a lot of scoring makes it really hard for us. Same thing with Lars. Same thing with Newell. Etc.stu said:

I certainly can't argue with that, but Fox has two years left on his contract, whereas Knowlton has -- what, twenty-two?
I would love to amp up the heat on L'Affaire McKeever until Knowlton decides it's just not worth the hassle to be here... and then we buy him out at a fraction of his remaining contract (actually should be do-able in the current climate)... or even just fire him for cause and let it play out.
But realistically, we might have to let him hire a new hoops coach next month and hope he doesn't blow it again. If you have a better idea that might work, I'm all for it.
The crazy thing is, senior figures in the Cal administration think highly of JK. I wish I were making that up, but amazingly it's true. The consensus is he's doing a good job which actually calls into question their sanity.
OK, then who are these seniors and how can we put the heat on them?

We need 1) an investigation of his actions/lack of actions in the McKeever scandal and 2) We also need to put pressure to have the basketball hire taken out of his hands and given over to a search committee of Cal basketball alumni not of his choosing (ie guys like Monty Buckley).

On paper, it figured to be a tough trip. It turned out even worse.
Let me take a moment to salute those of you (masochists though you may be) sticking with it. Talk about thick and thin. These days must be the thinnest ever. I understand those who can't do it. But for those who are still riding with the Bears on this journey from hell, I say: Roll on, you sturdy Golden Bears!

This weekend down south reminded me of the old cartoon short "Bambi meets Godzilla", Cal being Bambi of course, being flattened when Godzilla's (USC, UCLA) foot steps on him. Or the old SNL Mr. Bill skits where each time Mr. Bill (Cal) meets Sluggo (USC and UCLA) and squeaks out "oooohhh noooooo, he's gonna be mean to me!
