Would have engaged (someone like) Monte to go with him to tournament games to explain what he was watching from the candidates and to help him sort through and decide. OR, if a know nothing and care less bureaucrat, would hire exec search X firm and throw darts based on bland advice. JK - which are you?

I think, sadly, we all know what is going to happen. He and Carol are in a room chanting "One more Year! One more year!" as Fox walks in from the last loss of the season.

- - Created a short list of new candidates two months ago
- - Negotiated a fair exit with Fox
- - Has had preliminary discussions with the potential coaches' agents to verify interest
- - Is prepared to announce the change in March.
- - Plans to meet with players.
- - At least has draft of press releases and Q&A.

Someone mentioned this in another thread, and it was a good comment- the latter rounds of the NCAA tournament effectively serve as a coaches conference. Knowlton should terminate Fox the day of or the day after we lose our game in the pac 12 tournament, spend the ensuing days officially getting into contact with those coaches who he & our alums/donors have identified, and use this pseudo-coaching-conference aka NCAA tournament to network and gauge responses on who he should pick.
I hope he has already reached out to the likes of Jaylen, Shareef, etc. to ask them to set aside some time to help be on a committee. I don't care if this might 'tip' his hand of firing Fox- it would be truly foolish to not set up the infrastructure and manpower right now. Don't fail like the Wyking/Fox transition and get caught with pants down and try to cover it up with a rushed process.

None of this has happened or is going to happen. My fellow cal bball fans, hate to say this but let's just throw in the towel on the basketball program. Zero confidence. The problem is not Fox...it's higher up

Fox should be fired now and Andrew Francis made interim head coach, both for the players' sake and so the search can be public and far more thorough than the last abbreviated search that resulted in this disaster
There isn't just one problem. Fox is a problem, a seriously real problem. The fact that he is still here reflects another real problem, but Fox doesn't get to slide on this. He's been awful.Econ141 said:eastcoastcal said:

Agreed but my point is that Fox was the problem for the first couple years. The fact that he should be fired is a no brainier and therefore he is no longer the roadblock. He should have been fired end of last year and that too is being generous. Since he's hasn't, clearly the problem is higher up.
