Now that Matt is in the Sweet 16, does that put him in 2nd place behind Jordan Matthews in the category of Best Use of a Transfer by Cal Hoop Player All Time?

I'm happy for MB. Somehow, though, he doesn't seem to be as a good a shooter nor all-around offensive player as he was with Cal.

He is part of an offense rather than hero ball. Guess which one is effective?

That's just hater talk. If that were true you'd expect his percentages to go up. But they really haven't. They're generally down. Even his free throw % is down. Try explaining that with something better than hater narrative.

You mean like what is going on in Missouri vs Princeton game?

Anyone associated with the Scarlet Letter like Haase, is disqualified from any discussion favorable to ex Cal Bears. A pox on his haase!

Small sample size, but in the 20 or so minutes I watched him today, when he didn't have the ball, he would stand on the perimeter and call for it. When he would get it, he'd go one-on-one. How are his assist numbers and his asst/TO at SDSU, versus when he was at Cal?

Because you are a good guy and you realize that, despite my laziness, I am also a good guy.

In addition, you figure that, if you're nice enough to me, I'll never again compare Matt Bradley's senior season at Cal with Joe Shipp's senior season. And you got a deal on that!

Hey, can you get me Bradley's season-by-season stats, not just this season and career? Also, I need some yard work done...

I'm still a huge MB fan. I, too, have watched him all year (i record all their games just to watch him). I expected him to really take off at sdsu. But he hasn't. And it's been surprising that his offense has actually regressed a bit. Even his free throw shooting has regressed, which is hard to explain.

When he was at Cal I thought he would be an nba player with his varied and prolific scoring ability and unique (and very useful) body type. Now I don't see that happening for him.

The handful of SDSU fans I speak with don't really like Bradley's influence on the team and consider him a ball hog.

Naturally, if he performs well in the tournament, that sentiment could change quickly. Perhaps it already has changed, I don't know, I don't follow their program closely.

Also a huge MB fan and its a tough comparison on just the stats. SDS staff has 8 players who all bring skill sets to the team and the minutes are mainly distributed amongst those players. The staff clearly places defense as their priority and exacts excellent effort from the players on that end - or their minutes get reduced. MB feels He has overall improved and likes His experience there. Like any college player, there are ups and downs and he did go thru a stagnant stretch earlier, but now has his confidence back. Really good young man who did stay in contact with several teammates from Cal - and His transfer proved best for his development basketball wise. He said that his basketball teammates at SDS were more committed to the team and their personal development and the level of coaching was also much better.

any idea on a timeline for the hire? early this upcoming week, or waiting for some candidates to finish coaching/assisting in the tournament?

Haase got this deep: The Arizona Wildcats defeated the top-seeded Kansas Jayhawks in the 1997 NCAA basketball tournament Sweet Sixteen game. Final score: 85-82.

Appreciate that insight. I've wondered whether increased effort on defense is the reason for his general decline in shooting, including I could see it potentially impacting FT%. Still, I thought he would really become a star there at sdsu, and his offensive skills, combined with sdsu's emphasis on defense, would help the Aztecs really excel. Last year was a disappointment for them. This year might be defined largely by their next game, v Alabama. Rooting for the (future Pac12) Aztecs.

Gonzaga was a #1 seed that year right? Maybe the #1 seed? Pretty tough compare.

Seems clear MB made the right basketball choice regardless of how the tourney went.

Letting go of Sueing, Vanover, Bradley and Kelly without a fight. That was MF's undoing.

Remember the ASU football coach in the past, Todd Graham? We were in a recruiting battle with him for a running back based in Phoenix whose name I cannot recall. We got a verbal from him and he was set to sign. But as he was going to our OV he went to the airport like some scene out a love story movie, telling him how much they wanted him. And they were able to flip him. MF took the "good riddance" and "addition by subtraction" approach and basically cemented his historically unprecedented legacy. How arrogant to think he could just outcoach everyone just with players that he perceived (and that's important, it was his subjective perception) that wanted to be here.

Especially if he leads all scorers again.

It will be the greatest achievement in college basketball by a Cal alum since Newell was coaching.
