So why hasn't he been hire yet. Knows Cal, great ties to bear backers and other key NorCal contacts. Turned around New Orleans, good record another UC. No faith that AD gets this right

There are multiple candidates.

Including Cuonzo from what hear. And having multiple candidates increases the odds we screw the hire up

The rumor mill also says that Amir Abdur-Rahim is under consideration as well. And once a coach is offered, the contract has to be negotiated and then approved by the administration, so things don't happen instantaneously. One would like to believe that JK has been working on a list of candidates for a long time.

One would not believe that because we are talking about Knowlton here. There is a reason people call him Jim Know-nothing. I think you means "one would hope." My guess is, since it was an "extremely tough" decision to fire him, Knowlton spent the entire season contemplating it rather than thinking of a successor.

Let's get it straight, if he is going to be our next coach: Joe Pasternack.

Unless you're choosing to believe that the donors will keep the buffoon in the AD chair in check this hiring time...which you have to because there really is no hope otherwise.

Cuonzo would never get the job the way he left.

EDIT: he'd never get an interview.

Yeah, really don't see Cuonzo getting a look.

I'm told Cuonzo enjoyed living here. They lived in piedmont

Anyone here live in Piedmont? I live close by in Oakland and frequently cycle through Piedmont. It certainly looks nice but it's not very Berkeley.

I view Cuonzo's time here far better than most, but he is now officially a retread. The energy he brought here as a young up and coming African American coach coming off NCAA Tournament success can best be replicated by a young up and coming African American coach coming off NCAA Tournament success.

Even Bill Walsh was a failure his second go-round at Stanford.

He got paid. Making what he made at Mizzou makes me think
he's lost his drive.

I highly doubt that he was reached out as a candidate.
Who's your source?

If indeed he was "reached out" to, it was likely for input on what Cal does wrong. And I'm
sure he'd be honest about the shortcomings of the job and administration support. That would be a good thing if that happened.
But no way would he be considered for a return.

- Bennett just finished

I've been asking about rumors of Cuonzo,: can any candidate match his coaching tree of Geene Keady/NBA..and proven success in the homes of the nation's best recruits... while at our Uni?

Could he overcome the recruits obvious question , why did u leave?,:
"Well I wanted the $ and the $700K 10 ac spread in Mzzou with it's own private lake and general store, that would have cost $7 mil in Danville , "

My source is someone whose opinion was solicited by Cal. He is a very tenured NorCal coach

The saddest part would be Missouri winning with Gates as head coach and our missing out on better opportunities like Amir Abdur-Rahim and possibly Pasternak.

I liked Cuonzo, but most here did not. And that was when he was pulling in McDonald's All Americans and going undefeated at Haas with the team ranked. The second time around would be worse.

I do and I talked to Cuonzo a couple times when he was in town. I recall being at a middle school dance as chaperone and he was outside there on his phone the entire time. I joked with him that he was trying to get another commit while at the dance.

His wife was well known in town, very nice and a prolific volunteer within the schools here. Just like Kate Dykes when she was here.

Piedmont is similar to much of Berkeley in a lot of ways. Berkeley is not all the south side with the grunginess and 60s flashbacks. Piedmont is like North Berkeley.
