I do and I talked to Cuonzo a couple times when he was in town. I recall being at a middle school dance as chaperone and he was outside there on his phone the entire time. I joked with him that he was trying to get another commit while at the dance.

His wife was well known in town, very nice and a prolific volunteer within the schools here. Just like Kate Dykes when she was here.

Piedmont is similar to much of Berkeley in a lot of ways. Berkeley is not all the south side with the grunginess and 60s flashbacks. Piedmont is like North Berkeley.

Is there more of a town atmosphere in Piedmont than in North Berkeley or Oakland Hills? Some years I walk up to Highland Ave for the Independence Day parade which is pretty quaint.

Also is Piedmont as accepting of differences as Berkeley? From my cycle-by demographics Piedmont seems fairly homogeneous.

You never know, but their careers barely overlapped. Joe Pasternak was prolific from the 20s to the 60s, for Universal, MGM, 20th Century Fox etc whereas Zev Braun was active from the 60s to the 2000s, much of it in television. Pasternak produced the Oscars a decade before Braun was nominated.

I live in the Oakland Hills and my boys go to high school in piedmont so i'm very familiar with both. Piedmont definitely has more of a town atmosphere.

Yes, more of a town atmosphere in Piedmont. Piedmont is pretty much schools and residential though with maybe 2 stores, a few banks and a couple gas stations.

Piedmont is pretty liberal, all of the elected officials here are women and I'm sure they are all Democrats. Demographics are changing over time but still somewhat homogeneous. Definitely progress is needed re: accepting differences, bit I don't know that Berkeley is great on that front as well.
