Michael "Yogi" Stewart's son (Sean Stewart) is a 5* PF, ranked #12 overall player in the country... suiting up for the Blue Devils next year.

Looking ahead for Duke

Not saying he would have taken a deep look at Cal, but this is what happens when we don't cull relationships with our legacy players... Stewart credits Grant Hill for his commitment as he took him to a Duke game when he was a kid and became a lifetime fan... sigh.

Objectively speaking, if that was your son, would you advise him to come to THIS Cal program?

Would be nice to have Shareef's son and Yogi's son on the team right now. With the transfer portal, could still happen.

THAT Cal program is history. THIS Cal program could be promising.

That's a nice slogan, but parents aren't sending their kids on a promise. Cal has to show it first.

Kids often want to go their own way.

Luke Walton didn't go UCLA for example.

Nor did Adam, Chris or Nate Walton.

He was very interested in Cal, but Fox completely dropped the ball. Fox and his staff went about 6 months at one point without communicating with Stewart family. Who knows if we ultimately would have gotten him, but the incompetence of Fox and his staff didn't even give us a chance.

Even as bad as Wyking was, he had the foresight to start recruiting the older brother (who ended up at Howard) with the chance to also get Sean, knowing the talent in Yogi's younger kid.

Jones had a lot to learn as a HC, but he understood the importance of recruiting and had a good reputation as a recruiting assistant..
