Amir just took his team to the ncaa in the first time in school history, and almost pulled off the upset

he won the conference coach of the year

any school with a coach with that success would extend his contract and any coach would listen/negotiate

the fact he hasn't signed is more telling then his school trying to extend him

His salary this season was $230,000 and apparently his contract expires on March 31 so there would be no buyout if we hire him on April 1.

I am sure he was/is interested in the Cal job, given that we were paying Fox more than 8 times what he makes.
However, I'd be OK with Cal doing Shareef's brother a solid, it is up to the Kennesaw AD to assess the risk he leaves and if it is worth extending him, just like Oregon did their guy Wilcox a solid and it was up to Knowlton to assess the risk he leaves after turning down Oregon and if it is worth extending him even further.

Certainly better cost of living vs. the Bay Area (where isn't) but the Marietta area(Kennesaw is right there) has had incredible growth over the last 15-20 years. It once was on the "outskirts" of downtown Atl, but now, the growth has spread far beyond that area.
The Braves stadium being put in Cobb County (home of Marietta, Kennesaw) was not an accident...

Do we really want to dig up the threads? It has been stated many times "Cal went cheap" is why we got Wyking and Fox. People defended Fox saying "no one would take the job, you can't win, no dedicated practice facility, tough academics, Telegraph Avenue is a dump, Berkeley politics…." Ignoring that we had gone undefeated at home and earned a 4 seed just a few years earlier with exactly the same conditions.
