Coach A as he has big-time AAU connections and is willing to break walls to bring Cal back to what it was in the JKIdd days.

Coach B seems like he's do just enough to keeps his job at Cal for 10 years while sniffing an NCAA tourney once. Also smells like a Stanford grad.

Thank you for your objective opinion. However, I believe Coach A was more dialed into the JC scene.

Madsen took a Utah Valley team that went 25-10 under Mark Pope the previous year and went 11-19.
He took over a successful program and eventually got them back to success.

Abdur Rahim took over a program that has never had success and has them successful.

However, a hire is always a bet on the future. A resume is about the past. In some cases (not these) the distant past. It is provides some information but you need to understand context. There are other factors to evaluate how well someone might do for you when you hire them: fit, motivation, your strategic vision and how their skills fit with that.

I think Madden is a good coach but not a good fit for him or us. It will limit our upside. Gates was perfect but we screwed that up.

I will go back to just being happy we finally got rid of Fox, have a good, personable coach, and hope we get rid of Knowlton soon.
