yes Jaylen has generally played well in the playoffs but he's supposed to be one of their superstars. His game 1 this series was solid, but his game two was a disaster

both their superstars seem to struggle in close 4th quarters in the playoffs when defenses are in full lockdown

Both need to improve their ball handling. Too many turnovers and poor shots in contrast to some other superstars (such as Butler)

Tatum's 3 turnovers in the last 2 minutes were embarrassing.
Tatum only had two turnovers in the quarter, one of which was the charge call.

He did have at least one almost turnover where the ball was almost stolen, but the Celtics recovered.

I was talking about Game 1. I don't know why they didn't call his pass to Jimmy Butler a TO.

Watch - Jayson Tatum has two costly turnovers in 30 seconds in Game 1

I think I've made one negative post about Jaylen in his entire team in the NBA team, and it was in this series

and yes, he had his best game of the series, but he still hasn't lived up to his new rep

one more game (at least) for him to have a break out game, otherwise there will be a lot of doubters in the offseason when he's trying to sign his new deal

I love Jaylen but if he's going to get 50mm per year, he needs to be putting up 50pts every other night. This is LeBron/Michael Jordan money for what has basically been Joe Dumars contributions.

if you love Jaylen, why would you not like him to get as much of the celtics money as possible?

Will Boston be the 1st NBA team in history to climb out of a 3-0 hole to win a Playoff series?

I enjoyed LeBron's record of 19 consecutive missed 4th quarter 3 pointers.

I understand your point, but that's fan thinking, but the actual dollars don't have real meaning because of increased revenue equaling increased salary cap. Also, the NBA is so much more timing, and teams holding onto a guy because they have that opportunity. They don't sign Brown, is a player even close to his ability available to them? Certainly they are an attractive team, with Tatum there etc...but....
I think the baseball pool is deeper and more wide open, because there isn't a monetary motivation to stay with an existing team.
My exhibit A is Tobias Harris for the Sixers. Now will be in a final deal that pays him over 36 mil next year. They got his Bird rights way back when, so it turned into a 5 year deal, which no one else could offer. He is a nice player...but hard to argue that he is at that monetary level...but, given the free agents at the time, he had interest from others, and the Sixers didn't like their other options at the time....
So much is a "bird in the hand", ironically enough....and I have given up trying to understand the salary cap...

Not that Reddit is 100% representative of a fan base, but if you go onto Celtics Reddit, the first 7 posts are about Brown, trading him, his lack of handles and his abundance of turnovers. Reminds me a lot of some of the fans on this board during his freshman year.

As a warriors and cal fan, I'd be more than happy to take brown off of Boston's hands

With Tatem hurt Boston needed a top game from Brown and tried to run the team through him

he is a super elite athlete but his handle is too loose, and although he is a solid 3 point shooter isn't the player to ask to take that many 3 attempts off the dribble

Jaylen will improve his dribbling just like he improved his shooting, but I don't see him as the point forward the celtics tried to make him (and I don't like it when they try the same thing with a healthy Tatem)

Warriors offense is beautiful compared to Celtics offense

Celtics will sign him. Makes no sense to trade him now for a low return to someone who doesn't know they can sign him on an expiring contract. Once they sign him they have to keep him a year before trading him. In the mean time they will try to make changes around Tatum and. Brown. If it doesn't work out he's still worth more in a trade

It was over when Tatum was hurt. Brown is a scorer not an initiator. With no one making 3's Miami just clogged the middle and watched Jaylen dribble into three guys or launch a missed 3

Did you listen to his post game interview?

Doesnt sound like he wants to be a Celtic next year. He could have embraced the club, the organization, the coaching staff ... and said that he wanted to help bring a Championship to Boston.

He did not.

Didn't see the interview but if he rejects the super max he gives up a ton of money with the only advantage being he is free at the end of next season to negotiate a new contact but in the mean time he'll be traded to a team that may not be able to sign him or where he doesn't want to be. If he accepts the supermax he makes a big pay day and in a year can be traded or "force a trade." Seems to me this is the best way for team and player after the emotion dies down

At least Tatum was spared the humiliation, had he not turned his ankle, and had the game been close in the last two minutes, of not turning the ball over several times as Jimmy Butler delivered a Miami win.

Boston looked "spent" last night.
Hence, no one driving to the basket or moving the ball around and just jacking up 3's from the get-go.
