Not sure what ad you are talking about but if you click on the link in the first post above you will have all the info.RedlessWardrobe said:
Okay, I really REALLY hate to be like this, but wouldn't it have made sense in the "Late Night at Haas" promo add to actually put the date and time of the event right in the ad? Is this what you would call a typical Cal sports marketing disfunction?
I know this is trivial but when you click the link and you look at the specific advertisement (artwork) of the event within the borders there is no date or time. Just thought it would make sense to put it in there. As the other poster stated later it was included in specific emails.Basketball Bear said:Not sure what ad you are talking about but if you click on the link in the first post above you will have all the info.RedlessWardrobe said:

Beginning with the band would have been a huge improvement.udaman1 said:
the straw hat band finished the night with a nice set. My son, who's in the band, said afterwards "what was the point of playing tonight", referencing the 50 or so fans remaining at the end of the event.
No. They introduced the whole team. Madsen said about 15 words. Team sat down on the sidelines. Couple of half a** three point shooting events. Teams standing around fo 30 mins. Stunnaman2 rap performance. Straw Hat Band performance.oskidunker said:
Did they play a game?

The whole event was a disaster. The canned music was so loud the announcer could not be heard announcing various athletes. Started late, and first 10 minutes was dedicated to advertising Tik Tok and Facebook and the like. The announcer was terrible, even failing to identify that she was introducing the gymnastics team, just went straight to athlete's names, etc. Why do anything just to have the athletes sit around bored? Charmin was the highlight of the event, but again, why put this much effort in to a "pep" rally? Finally, does anybody think that a set by a rap DJ is going to entice the adults in attendance? I would have preferred less production and a viewing of a scrimmage.
Absolutely!bearchamp said:

According to accounts, this show has deteriorated from being about basketball to being about commercialism.stu said:Absolutely!bearchamp said:

So they didn't have the food inside so they at least had to come inside?udaman1 said:No. They introduced the whole team. Madsen said about 15 words. Team sat down on the sidelines. A ton of students were there, but OUTSIDE Haas, claiming their free pizza/chicken sandwich. Obviously most didn't go inside. There was a lot of production put into this event, with the lighting, steam effects, and music, that made the whole thing a little embarrassing, considering the turnout.
Well, certainly the team has an opportunity to win fans back. This is the most talent on the team since probably the Jaylen Brown days. Need to stack up some wins.
That would have been the smart move, correct. But they were handing out pizza and chicken sandwiches in front of the Haas steps.HoopDreams said:

Yep. My expenses (1959-65) were slightly less. I had a summer job and a hashing job, along with odd carpentry jobs, but still could not pay all my expenses. It must be impossible now to work one's way through school.stu said:
Current tuition is $15602 per year. Student health insurance adds $3858 which can be waived if you have equivalent coverage. Living expenses are a lot more so I can imagine a $50000 total.
In my time (1967-1970) $500 per year covered fees and books. Dorm living added $125 per month, a typical apartment (with 2 per room) rented for about half of that plus whatever you wanted to spend on food.

They didnt want to hire people to clean up inside. Thats why they closed the west side. A half assed event.
My parents both worked their way through Cal right before WW2. I had it much easier with their help and a small scholarship. I got pocket money by working at the dorm on the phone switchboard and assisting the maintenance man. Now there's money to be made in social media but not everyone is attuned to that.SFCityBear said:

1959-1962....Worked canneries in Sunnyvale at lowest union wage, hashed tables and dishwashing at Bowles and Stern....Total cost for the year $1700 including $.25 to have a collared shirt washed and ironed, $89 incidental fee (no tuition), free entry to sports with student card, residence hall about $900/year......Folks helped out with about $200/year....SFCityBear said:Yep.
