Theo Robertson Named Men’s Basketball Color Analyst

BERKELEY – Former California men’s basketball standout Theo Robertson, an All-Pac-10 selection who has gone on to coach both at Cal and in the NBA, has been named the new color analyst for Golden Bear radio broadcasts, Director of Athletics Jim Knowlton and Learfield Cal Bears Sports Properties announced Wednesday.

Robertson starred at Cal from 2006-10, helping the Bears win their first conference championship in 50 years as a senior, when he was named team MVP and earned All-Pac-10 Second-Team honors. He was a two-time team captain at Cal and finished his career as the program’s all-time leader in 3-point percentage.

Robertson will be paired with new play-by-play voice Justin Allegri. Both will make their Cal basketball debuts Monday during the Bears’ 2023-24 season-opener against St. Thomas at Haas Pavilion.

“I’m incredibly excited to join the broadcast team, alongside Justin Allegri, as the color analyst for men’s basketball,” Robertson said. “Cal is such a special place to me. It’s an honor to represent the University in this role, and I look forward to telling the story of the program during this exciting time.”

In addition to serving as an assistant coach at Cal, Robertson also spent time on the coaching staffs of both the Los Angeles Lakers and Golden State Warriors. Robertson was on the same staff as current Cal head coach Mark Madsen with the Lakers in 2016-17.

Robertson has also served as a player development coach for USA Basketball and as an assistant video coordinator for the Detroit Pistons. He received his degree from Cal in social welfare in 2010.

“Not only was Theo an accomplished student-athlete at Cal, but his experience coaching both on the collegiate and NBA level will allow him to bring great knowledge and expertise to his alma mater,” Allegri said. “I am excited to welcome Theo to our broadcast team.”
