He was amazing in the second half of this game! Against Montana State. A few too many turnovers in the first half however. But he is going to be great for us I think. He has a little Jorge in him and even looks a little like Jorge.

Better shooter than Jorge, though, especially judging by his overall stats

Yeah, he took almost no shots where I thought, "Why did you do that?"

Tyson seems to me to be the most prolific scorer for the Bears since Ed Gray. Am I overlooking someone?

Tyson is a baller.

Currently averaging 20 points per game, which Don MacLean did for four years to still hold conference All Time Scoring Record.

He's Cal's only NBA talent this year. That said, from what I've seen of Rodney Brown this year, he looks like he could develop into a NBA-level player by his junior or senior year. Keonte Kennedy has an outside shot at an eventual NBA career if he works on his three point shooting and becomes a better defender (that'll take work in the G-League).

Seems very unlikely that he would return at this point. Not impossible just unlikely. If he finds his way into the first round of the draft it should help Madsen be able to recruit from a different tier of players. Transfers will notice how this team is built and should allow for Madsen to sell immediate PT and an NBA style of play that will be appealling to the higher end talent.

Tyson is a very skilled player with good athleticism and strength. He is a 3 level scorer and good ball handler for his position. He is not off the charts athletic and that could hurt his draft stock along wth his age which is older for many of the NBA draftees.

I worry that if Jaylon Tyson gets drafted and (if Cal finishes above .500 this year), Madsen will be hired home by the Furd when Haase is inevitably fired.

I'm not sure if Jaylon will be a first round pick. He could make it at the back end of the first round, but I suspect he'll be a second round pick for the reasons you listed. That said, I think he can play in the NBA (as a bench player) today. He still needs to work on his ball handling and defense as well as consistency behind the arc. But most young players entering the league now need to work on those skills.

Even though they say "never assume", I'm assuming that they have put a clause in Mad Dog's contract making it difficult for him to leave -- especially to Furd -- early in his Cal contract.

Of course, a lot of the reason people nowadays say "never assume" is because of Wilcox's contract, so who knows.

I hope so! Madsen is really impressing me more and more as Cal's head coach. I hope he sticks around and leads Cal to a NCAA championship or three.

Furd still has issues with getting transfers admitted, NIL, and overall fan support. If Cal can keep funding NIL and getting fans back to Haas, MM may not even think about jumping to Furd.

I could see Madsen pulling a Monty and going back to the Farm, but not until he's established himself as a winner at Cal. I agree with the optimists, Madsen can rebuild this (cue the Bionic Man music and montage)…
