This has the makings of a very good game provided Cal keeps up a D effort the entire game.

SC shooting 66% to our 33% and we are only down 2.

SC is notorious for undisciplined poor shot selection. We can beat them if we can drop 3's.

Cone just not have a high basketball IQ

So many turnovers

3 trips with no shots (1 violation, 1 no iron, 1 over and back)

We are not a good enough team to afford to miss the shot that a 6th grade CYO player can make with regularity: the FT

SC is killing us with 3s.

Cal looks very disjointed on offense and we can't miss 2 FTs when we are just hanging on

The announcer is impressed Cal players recruited by Mark Fox stayed on with the coaching change to Madsen? Those players would have considered it a coaching upgrade and have stayed if we had made a porpoise the HC.


*No way that porpoise drops 16 in a row or uses the ugly girlfriend analogy in post game pressie.

No teams leave Cone for a 3 and we can't seem to run a play for him except the curl which is a high difficulty shot

But that means the lane should be pretty open yet Tyson is only player to take advantage (and Tyson drives are the second defensive priority for every team)

We need Celestine and Newell to score more otherwise we are too easy to defend

When Cone isn't producing offense, and is a liablity on defense, it's a recipe for bad results.

We're 342nd in the nation coming into this game for opponent 3pt FG%. At this point in the season, we can't claim it's a statistical anomaly. It's because we give everyone wide open 3s, don't close out on shooters, or fight hard enough through screens.

We need to start by changing something up on defense, we can't keep trying the same things over and over again and expecting different results. USC mixed in zone a few times, and it resulted in Cal turnovers and easy buckets.

Let's try something new for the 2nd half!

This game isn't over yet. USC is clearly more talented than us, but they are a bit undisciplined, and seem like a team that is still figuring itself out. We're not out of this yet, but we need to pivot.

Unfortunately, Askew is unavailable due to injury more often than he is available to play.

I think it's time to have an honest conversation about Daws

SC can make 3s and we can't.

This game is over. We can't come back from being down by 14.

Would I be accused of being too negative if I admit that I am getting bad vibes at this point in the proceedings?
