I was in Madrid this summer. A friend was giving me a walking tour showing me places of his family history. Across the street from the Congreso de Los Diputados was a balcony where his mother lived when they were first married. One block down was the Westin Palace Hotel. We went inside. In a back lounge were seated 3 couples - being an American sports junkie it certainly appeared to (both of us) that these guys were American basketball transplants. I moved closer to see if I could identify, I even walked up to say hello. After a brief chat we departed and my Spanish friend asked if I knew who they were. No freakin clue. I was so faced.

So, just now I went onto this website to see a list of all Americans playing hoops in Spain. First of all, I never heard of most these guys. Second of all, look who I found listed as playing in Malaga!

Kravish has been in 7 different countries in Europe professionally and even obtained a Bulgarian passport to play for the national team a couple years ago. What the hell is that about?
I'm guessing European teams may have a max limit on non Europeans on roster and so being a European means he has more roster options?

Anyone who can add here, that would be interesting.

Kravish is married. Hugh school sweetheart Ashton Pohlman was happy to arrive in Malaga for consecutive season. No doubt! Malaga is on the agreeable Costa Del Sol and there are plenty of English speaking Brit transplants. Beats Russia, Poland and other stops by far. Though, what incredible life experiences they've had!

No word on little Kravishes yet.

Kravish looks a lot different with a beard, doesn't he?

Yes, if it's still like it used to be, the European teams are limited to maybe two US players, so anybody who can get EU citizenship is in high demand. He could've gotten it by staying there for awhile, or maybe even if he has a grandparent who came to the US from an EU country (not 100% sure about that last part).

I always thought Kravish would go to medical school... maybe he still will one day. Cool to live in Europe, playing basketball, and getting paid decent money to do it!

Kravish saved those Cal teams who lacked bigs. He was a great rebounder and shot blocker, and could reliably hit that mid-range shot.

problem was his senior year when he was asked to play center, which wasn't a good role for him.

at Cal he was always skinny. Certainly looks like he's bulked up now and looks the part of a pro PF

Yeah, not so much a problem when he could still play PF alongside Richard Solomon who lead the conference in rebounding, but pretty bad the next, his senior year, when the only other returning healthy player Martin inherited from Monty taller than 6'6 was 6'8 Christian Berens (soph Rooks was hurt and freshman Okoroh who Martin was able to bring in late was very raw).
