When someone attacks your character, you have to defend yourself. I'm not sure how me observing and voicing my frustrations that Fardaws was struggling with his matchup makes me a "quitter" especially when I watched the entire game and was very pleased to see the fight of this team.

What a game, this may turn out to be the most memorable game of the season. Loved the Jaylon show, sad that we may only have him for two more months… NBA-bound if he keeps this up.
Another interesting stat that came out on the post-game show: Gus Larsen was a +12 for the game, best on the team. This guy needs more minutes, I don't think he should just be the "when Aimaq fouls out" guy.
What's with bearister's unprovoked anger about attacks on Aimaq, is he his uncle or something?
It's just hoops talk, man.

That's what bearister was doing, talking about hoops. Okay, he was growling. Bears growl. Hey, you take some shots at the players, okay fine, they are adults and even getting paid now, but then you open yourself up to criticism.
It's a game thread.

Fardaws Aimaq is a good player for us. Limited in some ways, like most all players, but he's good.

He was sensational, truly. But, there were also other players (Cone in particular his baseline drive and kick out pass to ?? for a three was beautiful and huge) who made critical contributions during that run. Just had to say that, but not to detract from what a spectacular run Tyson went on (and it's not the first time he's gone on a late run like that).

Relax bud. I'm very happy with the fight of this team and there was a collective effort to bring them back in. However, your best friend Aimaq didn't have much of an impact on the comeback in fact, he allowed Colorado's big to have a career night. Gus Larson certainly played well, deserved more minutes. Hope you dream about more Aimaq double double's tonight. Great win by still 6-10 and they have to continue to build off the last two games if Cal wants to be taken as a serious program again.
m

Aimaq does a lot of things well. But he's also a liability on defense… so much so that it completely takes us out of the game sometimes. Because teams will just go after him relentlessly.

However, I think madsen is finally figuring out that aimaq can't guard centers 1 on 1 and he's sending help. Sometimes even a strong double team. This has greatly mitigated aimaq's defensive deficiencies and allowed us to play somewhat solid defense.
Honestly, RA, you tell the guy to relax, but then you go on to make your comment about the other guy dreaming about Aimaq and his double double. Relaxing works both ways.

Bottom line. We're half way through the year and we've seen enough of Aimaq now to know what he brings us. Overall, he is still a definitive positive for this team. But college basketball, like many sports has games when the particular matchups of players is a key. Last night's game was simply a bad matchup for FA. Last night, Larson was the right guy to bring in. FA was too slow to keep up with their big guy and D Curtis was too thin. Not rocket science. There will be upcoming games that FA will excel in, while Larson doesn't see a minute on the floor. Basketball 101.

Agree, but I don't think Larson was going to last too long against Lampkin either. In general, though, I do think Larson should get more minutes.

I understand your point. In general, "in game threads" are really best to avoid. Us fans often get too caught up in the anxiety of the moment. Post game threads reflect the entire game and are usually written in a more objective and less emotional way. Bottom line, sometimes it's those very waves within the game that ultimately makes it fun to watch.

Now let's see if we can go up to Oregon and steal one. And then have a good discussion after the game.

Also, Fardaws came up big with a block down the stretch, while playing with 4 fouls.

Cone has gotten a lot better at pump faking, driving the lane and then kicking out. It's made a tremendous difference in how the offense runs as now teams can't sell out as much against his three point shot.

Cone has me screaming at my TV because of all the shots he takes that violate traditional mechanics (i.e. shooting a J while moving laterally)….but I think I finally get him. He is like a gunslinger QB that throws 3 INT but keeps slinging without a conscience and throws a 40 yard TD bomb to win the game.

Cone is clutch. He can shoot bricks all night long and still feel he can win the game with the last shot. I respect him and will not yell at my TV again. Shooters gonna shoot!

He did that and finished with a mid-range J a couple times v. UCLA. I think he is understanding that he doesn't have to only shoot threes.

Plus the screen on Lampkin on Tyson's last minute spectacular dunk that gave us a four-point lead. Pretty good!
But he picked a bad time to miss a free throw with 12 seconds left and Cal up two. Then everyone forgot to cover daSilva, who had made six of eight three-pointers. What a horrible way to lose! Except he, too, decided to miss, and we didn't lose. PHEW!!!

To be honest, giving your wife solicited advice is even more dangerous.

Yep but usually in the form of "why don't you just chill?"
