Very accurately summarizes our season and who we are.

A team built around offense and although reasonably athletic, not nearly up to the task on defense. Let me mention that Keonte Kennedy made some nice plays. With him healthy from the start maybe instead of 6-11 we're 10-7 or 9-8. (And there's that damn ASU game.)

Not sure of much improvement moving forward. Curious if anyone knows the injury status on Okafor? A few minutes from him each game might help. And what's up with Monty? I bring this stuff up only because viewing the game last night, a bit of fatigue set in near the end, (certainly not the primary reason we lost), and maybe with our primary guys playing just a few less minutes, it translates to a little better D and a little better shooting near the end.

In any case, at least this year the games are entertaining and on any given night we can get a W. Hope moving forward we catch a couple of breaks.

Yes we have our defensive woes, but Oregon is a talented offensive team. I would posit that we lost actually because of offense. Cone and Celestine went a combined 3 for 19 on the day, and many weren't any more contested shots than usual. Cone a putrid 1 for 9 from 3. I love Cone, I know he has the ability to make like 5 in a row, and love his attitude. I just wish he would be more judicious with his shot. I know we say he's played 6 years he is what he is. The head coach can't coach him? It seems more that Madsen is OK with it. I think that has to stop. Unfortunately, season is more than half over, but we still time to make some noise. As far as Celestine, his has been an unimpressive season for a talented guy (I would say 2nd in skill set to JT) who needs to step up. Last night was a culmination of that underachievement with a horrible shooting night. I am sure he would agree that this is not who he is and what he can be. I still think he should be more in the offense and the second option, but he's got to figure some things out.

That all said, let's go for the home sweep this week at Haas. It won't be easy (esp Wazzu) but let's get the place rocking again with the students back.

To your point, only 34% shooting in the second half and only one three pointer. If we implement a statistical "law of independent half" theory then we may have come away with a win yesterday. Of course under that same criteria we lose the Colorado game.

Cone isn't a guy you want on the court with a large lead. He makes poor decisions, plays mediocre defense, and seems incapable of adjusting his game. When it's close or you're behind, you roll the dice with him. But, if you're way ahead the last thing you need is Cone throwing up an off-balance three with 20+ seconds left on the shot clock.

Oregon is a better team and should have won. But when you're up by that much, it's a shame not to do everything you can to hang onto the lead.

When you're up big and the opponent calls timeout, you should tell your team to play like you're the ones down big. Instead everyone freaks out and the momentum shifts back.

Whose injury among Cal Football and Basketball players the past several years has not been a big secret?

"We don't need to know." (not quoting myself)
