One of two posts on the card board. Maybe if they cared more about their team their AD would. Lmao

It isnt All Right Now or….

Feels pretty conclusive at this point that Haase got to go. Can't see anyone at this point defending him.

We're 8 years in and it's the same thing. We're average. Win a few games to give us hope but lose some bad games to keep us out of the tourney.

Time to look for someone who can build a tournament team.

Last night's victory over Stanford was about as compelling basketball theatre as we have experienced in 6+ years...This team was 3-29 last year. We remain flawed but have made massive improvements in talent, energy, tempo + FUN. Enjoy it dunker...

Maybe he can get hired as an assistant coach at Kansas.

I'm surprised he has lasted as long as he has. I loved Haase as a player who used hustle and grit to maximize his potential at both Cal and KU but he seems not to have been able to translate those attributes to success as a head coach,

Except Haase recruits well and has a winning record overall and in conference. He's the normal mediocre of guys that win just enough to not get fired. He's what Wilcox's most ardent defenders think Wilcox is or can get to.

The hundreds of Furdies that actually give a crap about their men's basketball team must really be irked that they probably could have had Madsen ten months ago, but decided to stick with Haase.

Dear Furd:

Show you care about your men's basketball team by sending your stupid band and your lame tree to a road game that is only 40 miles away. Just sayin'...

We lost too many games early. Unless we can win the PAC-12 Tournament and become "Cinderella" our role this year is "spoiler." Glad we able to spoil Stanford's season. On to the next victim!

The Pac 12 does allow visiting bands but only to rivalry games . So Stanford could have sent a band.

It appears the ACC does not allow any visiting bands or cheerleaders for basketball

Is that why the band members sometimes travel as "The Straw Hat Band" and sit up in the rafters? Is that not allowed?

Not sure it has anything to do-with where they sit. They are only allowed to go to Stanford. Nowhere else no matter where they sit .This rule was implemented some years ago to reduce travel expenses. The haves bringing bands etc was deemed unfair when the have nots could not afford it.

Right, which is why band members travel as "students" buy tickets, don't wear their "official uniform" or perform on the floor. They instead sit in the rafters as the "Straw Hat Band"?

Most of that rule absolutely sucks (talkin' 'bout both the Pac and the ACC). I have lots of fond memories of the Straw Hat Band and the visiting band in Harmon Gym: Fairly large-sized bands, with the Straw Hat Band sitting at center court on the west side and the visiting band seated right behind the north basket, starting at floor level (Furd, $C, UCLA, Cal Aggie and more). And they certainly didn't need to have an "adult staff member" accompanying them, because they all knew how to act, even rather zany at times, without crossing the line.

It added quite a bit to the vibe. As the years go by, it seems like they just want to extract a lot the fun, step by step. Not sure why, but I think I blame bloated administration and lawyers. (If you're a lawyer reading this, I don't mean you.)

The only contingent of the band that shows up to any basketball games is the Straw Hat Band. They are the official band presence at games where the full uniformed band is not committed. That means certain away football games and home basketball and a select few away basketball games.

I highly doubt that the band will travel informally and buy tickets to play at a game. This may have happened in isolated instances far back in the past but I'm almost positive, it doesn't happen anymore. If band members were so inclined, they can't just show up to games with instruments at a visiting team's arena and expect to be allowed to play. There has to be authorization organized by the athletic department with the school hosting the game.

FYI, Cal Tech's band has a small group of about 8 who travel with their basketball team. They seem to have a grand time. Odd, that D-3 facilitates student participation more than D-1.

With more media coverage comes more rules. Those games aren't on TV or drawing large groups of fans. They are largely in smaller venues with less security. It is not necessarily the enthusiasm of the students that is the main factor but the amount of administrative hoops they need to navigate to be allowed to participate.

This has also changed significantly in the modern age. When I played in the band, we would rent 15 passenger vans on our own, empty out the seats and throw in a mattresses and drive to Wisconsin to play for the team. By my last year in the band these types of trips were prohibited and the minimum travel budget had to include a full bus and a professional driver.
