I'm in line, about a thousand back just to get in. F'ing disaster, embarrassing for Cal. Eager fans standing around while we miss the first half. Unbelievable, never seen anything like this for the last 20 seasons. I've wanted JK fired for years, but now I want his head on a pike (not literally, just sayin).

Literally would be good too. Anyone said what the problem is?

They have TWO lines in. I got here early and we missed the first 4 minutes. Must have been in line 40 minutes.

This was pathetic. Tons of empty seats

Retracting my earlier alarmist post, my wait was only about 20 min, so not the worst experience I've had in line. But still, no apparent reason for the line that stretched from Haas to Zellerbach and then folded back to Haas.

40 or 20 ... s/b 5 or less. Not only do we shoot ourselves on the cort and field, but now outside the arenas

Remember when Haas opened? Popcorn-created fire alarm

How about his head still attached to his body but both somewhere far from Cal.

Since JK has been working from home in Colorado Springs since he was hired, what you're suggesting is the status quo.

Good point. Maybe his contract should be on a pike. Or better burned at the stake.

I heard from the guy standing in front of me that there had been a shooting on campus (no one was hurt, fortunately). So, he speculated that they had instituted some extra special cautions today. However, once I got to the front of the line, it seems identical to my Wed night experience. So....

Correct, security used a visual scanning machine and several times people had objects in their pockets that required removal and then being scanned again. I went into the line at !:55pm and it took 12-13 minutes. Security said the process was tied to the shooting on campus last night. Agreed on wanting more than 2 lines but only 2 scanners apparently were available.

rampant speculation here but i overheard a couple of students mentioning this and it appeared someone shot out a window at Eshellman (sp?) as workers were dealing with the mess and clean up as I was walking back to my car thru lower Sproul

There is a third entrance from the rsf. Not much line there. You take tbe elevator from the garage. Usually only people whompark there use it buy anyone could. Got thereat 1:45 no wait. There is a scanner there.

Scanners were used for the last few games. Its normally quicker

I think his head is deeply imbeded where the sun don't shine. It's been there all the time he's been at Cal.

I entered Haas right around 2:00, and there was almost no wait at the front entrance. I think the screeners were being a little hyper-sensitive though, as they made me open my eyeglass case and the little pouch that has a phone charger. I think there were one or 2 games at Memorial this year where they stopped me to check my glasses case. These scanners are generally faster than the other metal detectors where we have to take things out of our pockets.

apparently it changed dramatically after 2, I heard similar stories where the line suddenly exploded to the point of reaching the steps to lower sproul where I ended up

My pleasure. It was frustrating to hear the national anthem as we waited in line for a long time. Everyone in line was incredulous. The ucla fans around me were dismissive of Cal Athletics as a minor league operation that does not know how to accommodate fan crowds. I was pissed at their condescending attitude, but it also felt true.

Wanted to share the frustration with the BearInsider community. A text description could be dismissed as hyperbole. The image of pissed off fans lined up the steps to Zellerbach Hall was not disputable.

What's kind of crazy about this whole issue is that if the shooting took place on Friday night, how is it that when I entered Haas at 2pm Saturday, I went right in with no issue. I realize that a great deal of people show up closer to game time, but it's hard to believe that things could change that drastically by 2:20. Then again......

No it isn't. Most people arrive just before game time. A lot arrive after game time. I myself am almost always more than a half hour early. Yesterday I arrived about five minutes to two and walked right in. Throughout the first half I was annoyed at all the people filing in late and blocking my view. Now I know it wasn't their fault.

I like to arrive to the game to watch the pre-pre game warmups to see how players shoot so we only had a small wait and agree the new scanners are much faster because you don't have to empty your pockets and hand over your phone, keys

I went to the Stanford game. We must have had 6 lines? Cutting it down to 2 lines is unacceptable.
