hard to imagine him as a first round draft pick?

Must be tough to be a good player, but then your father is like the GOAT or close to it

My guess he goes to another school.. not sure if I want that to be Cal, high profile players come with both good and bad things, the bad things can really screw up a program, but Bronny seems like a good kid, so perhaps not as big a problem, more of a benefit?

If there's genuine interest in Cal, I believe we need to pursue this.

Guys. This is a pipe dream. I'm sure Bronny is going to want to take his 1000 shots a day at the RSF with Hoop Dreams ( I know he's an awesome guy, but still…) and have to wait for the volleyball and gymnastics teams to finish practice at Haas.

The last time Bronny visited CAL we sold out...with his father in the stands. His dad gave Madsen a big hug after the game. A PR dream if he came.

If his dad had to play a year in college the odds are it would have been at Cal. There is a reason Cal was the road game LeBron attended, there is a reason he visits campus and brings other players with him when he plays the Warriors. Madsen is a plus. The key would be who else Bronny/Madsen/LeBron could recruit to come with him. It might be a long shot, but it is not a pipe dream.

Being a Cal alum is the most badass thing in the history of humanity. I know this firsthand.

Absolutely. It is the type of hype we could really use going into the ACC.

Le Bron may save our ass. Send his son and two friends to help Madsen

Though it looks like LeBron's HS teammate could be a similar option.

why do you suppose Jaylen Brown put up with all that when he could have gone to any school he wanted?
That was a pipe dream too.
And Oh yeah, what a drag watching hot athletic girls finish practice while you hang with your buddies.

Entering the portal I can understand - a year destroyed by injuries across the board at USC and the coach leaves - time for a change. But declare for the draft? On a team that finished 15-18 in 9th place, Bronny was 8th in points, 7th in rebounds, 4th in assists, and 10th in FG%. I suppose the thinking is teams fall for his "potential" before he spends another year in college and reveals that he's really not as good as the media hyped him out to be.

Don't know. I would have loved to see a fully healthy Celestine play a full year though. He is skilled, but Fox and injuries severely impacted his development.

Right now, I'd say no. Among other things, Bronny really needs to work on his 3 pt shot. I do think he has upside.

There's the marketing potential of dad/son playing on the court together, either against one another or on the same team.

My assumption is that this is more about when LeBron will retire than Bronny going to college. I think the key is that Le Bron REALLY wants to be the first (and maybe only?) Father/Son NBA teammates. Therefore...

Bronny declares for draft this year.
Bronny doesn't get drafted.
LeBron makes Lakers sign him
They play for a year together
LeBron can now retire in peace, or....

Bronny declares for draft this year.
Bronny DOES get drafted.
LeBron cuts a deal to get him and Bronny on same team
They play for a year together
LeBron can now retire in peace...

I assume that option 3 won't happen:
Bronny declares for draft this year.
Bronny doesn't get drafted.
Bronny goes back to college
LeBron hopes his knees hold up and Bronny's stock doesn't rise - because the easiest option is for him to NOT get drafted.

kind of sad that a father would do that to his kid?? hope that Le Bron's ego does not get in the way of his relationship with his son

I think (generally) naming your child after yourself is an indicator that your "ego may be getting in the way of your relationship with your" child.

Lakers take him in the 2nd round.
LeBron signs an extension with the Lakers.
Bronny plays a few games with the Lakers and plays in the G-League.

It's unbelievably shameless nepotism but it will work. A second round pick to secure signing a still-elite or close to it LeBron is worth it for any team. It will be a huge story that casuals will tune in for and basketball fans will hate-watch.

G League, at best. 'Maybe' worth a 2-way to some club. But even that is a stretch. And his agent - Rich Paul - loudly proclaims that Bronny absolutely will not sign a 2-way deal, and will only work out for two teams - L.A. (Lakers, of course), and Phoenix. They're trying to 'force' him onto an NBA roster, without him having to showcase his mediocrity by working out for teams. Even the actual "good players" work out for teams.

LaBron is still a great player, but his demands regarding the makeup of the team would, at this point, I think be in the category of "baggage". And don't you think he'd be in the coach's ear regarding playing time for Bronny?

Bronny had a heart attack at the beginning of last season. We don't really know how good he is. He certainly can be a role player in the NBA.

Yeah, if his dad gets him a spot. He's a 6'2 shooting guard who can't shoot or create. Maybe he could turn into something someday, but there are ton of college players at or above his level now that you can say that about.

He actually measured 6'1" at the NBA combine.
