IIRC, Cal started a program specifically to help former student-athletes return and earn their degrees.

I think Jaylen could afford to fly his Cal professors back and forth until he accumulates 120 units.
And then they can all go to Monte-Carlo for the grad trip together.

I had a friend in college who used to joke "old enough to pee is old enough for me."

I'm not sure where he picked up that cringe-inducing line, but he laughed every time he said it - he married the girl who lived across the hall from him in freshman year dorms, though they didn't start dating until the summer after the school year. Still married 33 years later.

After his NBA days are done I hope he comes back to finish his degree...AND play hoops. The old prohibition of "pros" playing against "amateurs" should be deleted in this era of NIL. If former NBA players came back to finish their degrees I think they should be eligible to play hoops. Same for other sports. Time to encourage these athletes to complete their degrees.

I'm not sure if he should play for Cal, again, after his pro career is over. While it'd be great if he could lead Cal to a NCAA championship, it would also take away a spot for a younger kid out of high school.

I may not necessarily agree with the rationale behind the NCAA rules, but I can at least see where keeping the prohibition on professional players from returning to their schools to play in the same sport (for which they were paid) would be beneficial for helping kids get to college. To allow former NBA players to return to their alma mater and play basketball would mean fewer college slots for kids straight out of high school.

But I also love that Cal has a program specifically designed to help its former student-athletes complete their degrees. That should be trumpeted more and used as a recruiting draw. I'm not sure how many other P4 schools have a similar program. Too often, once a student athlete leaves school (especially to play pro ball), the schools don't care about them academically.
