It's still very early in the season but some of the power ratings out there have us in a decent position, right in the middle:

It was a great week for the California schools of the Atlantic Coast Conference still hard to wrap my head around that. After dropping a double-digit game to Vanderbilt, Cal rebounded on the road against USC and have benefited from the services of former five-star and Stanford transfer Andrej Stojakovic (17.8 PPG) on the offensive end. The Golden Bears haven't done a fabulous job of sharing the ball, but they've also had the luxury of rotating ten players through. Depth won't be as much of a problem for Coach Mark Madsen's unit as it will be for several other ACC schools. Cal will have a light schedule this week before their ACC/SEC Challenge matchup against Missouri next Tuesday.

ESPN on the other hand has us near the bottom at 16th:

CBB Review has us at #10:
    Quote:

    10) Cal Golden Bears
    Last week's ranking: 12 (+2)
    Record: 5-1 (0-0)
Last week: W vs. Air Force (78-69), W vs. Sacremento State (83-77)
Next week: vs. Mercyhurst (Nov. 27. 10 p.m.)
    Quality wins: at USC
    Bad losses: None
Cal had two nice home wins this week to improve to an impressive 5-1 to start the season. Although none of their wins have been incredibly flashy or head-turning, the Golden Bears have had a nice start to the season and should improve to 6-1 when they host first year D1 program Mercyhurst this week.

Why are they showing 4-1? Is that for OOC games?

If we can finish middle of the pack in the ACC that would be a huge accomplishment considering where we were just two years ago

The SI power ratings were from the Virginia Cavaliers beat writer. He posted it on November 24th, the same day we played Sacto State in the evening, so Cal probably was 4-1 when it was written.
