Their season should be fun, flying cross country to Maryland or Purdue to get thumped, hope they really enjoy their inaugural Big Ten season.
Yikes! To me, the USC win meant the team wasn't as bad as the Vanderbilt beat down suggested. Perhaps that view might be premature. These next two games will be telling before ACC play really begins.oskidunker said:

As a dad of a former piedmont high school basketball player, it was cool to see 2 former Piedmont players ; Luke Barrett is a redshirt Sr starter for St Mary's and Britt Burden is a freshman walk on at USC.
Go Highlanders!
I lived in Piedmont for 21 years. My kids went to Piedmont HS. This is a terrible tragedy. Piedmont is basically a small town and everyone knows everybody.91Cal said:graguna said:

So sorry to hear about the terrible crash involving the recent Highlander grads early Wednesday morning.
My older son was classmates with all those kids. One of his former basketball teammates pulled the only survivor out of the truck. It's heartbreaking.bipolarbear said:I lived in Piedmont for 21 years. My kids went to Piedmont HS. This is a terrible tragedy. I hadn't heard about the crash, but it sounds like a terrible tragedy. I didn't grow up in Piedmont, but I lived nearby in Oakland. Piedmont High was closer to my house but I went to Oakland High. I used to practice kicking field goals at the Piedmont High field with the idea of being the kicker when I was in high school, but I never got good enough.graguna said:My older son was classmates with all those kids. One weird thing about the accident for me. It involved a Tesla Cybertruck and I happened to see one for the first time yesterday in a parking lot. I had no idea what it was and thought it was a homebrewed car body until I watched the news coverage of the Piedmont crash just now. I almost took a picture of it but felt weird doing that with so many people walking about in the parking lot. I hope the crash wasn't due to a Tesla self-driving glitch. That would be even worse.
This afternoon I rode my bike by the crash site. Hampton road there is almost wide enough for 4 lanes and gently curved, you could make the turn at 60 mph or more if you had room to accelerate. The wall was slightly damaged and I couldn't tell which tree was hit (though one had an ad hoc memorial). That's all I know but there's a (subscriber) article in the SJ Mercury:Big C said:Eastern Oregon Bear said:I hadn't heard about the crash, but it sounds like a terrible tragedy. Police arrived a few minutes after the crash only to find the car in flames that were "twice as high as the car", but they made it a point to say they didn't think the battery exploded. So what else is there to burn on an EV? Horrible accident.
