Great battle and the team did not quit. But man we are so dang slow at swinging the ball. It's like we catch the ball, reset, and then pass it on. They sent 2 to the ball each time-- so someone is open. If we can move the ball faster we get much better looks.

Andrej also had a horrible game, complete liability on both ends. Is he playing hurt? He just was terrible today. JW also had a very freshman game- head down downhill too much and got stripped multiple times. Aside from the points, also a fairly bad game. We also just couldn't get the ball in from beyond the arc. Need a shooting coach.

Proud of the team battling but a LOT to clean up. That's a winnable game.

Also those are some of the worst refs I've watched. Absolute trash

Attendance from students was absolutely horrid to start (maybe 30-40 students?) but became just plain bad (100?) as the game went on. Alum attendance was on par for the season. No marketing from Cal athletics on this game- barely heard about it, wouldn't have known it was happening except for me putting all the games in my calendar at the start of the season. Cmon!

It didn't help that we were missing Omot and Ola-Joseph on a day Stojakovic was coming back from injury and Petraitis and Campbell weren't having good games. We played only 8 guys.

Let's face it. Wake Forest is just a better team than we are. The better team won today. At best, we're a 0.500 team this year.

We do not match up well with teams that have length at the 2 and 3.

True. And we just couldn't stop their 7 foot center who can make baskets from anywhere on the floor.

Opponents don't respect our shooting so they man up against our drives

One time I saw 3 WF players blitz Andrej when he got the ball (he made a great pass for an assist, but shows just how much they sold out to defend our slashers)

Spot on.....We need to find some shooters to at least balance our offense in the future.

Wilkerson and Blacksher were decent. Not having Ola Joseph hurt. Petritis has been mediocre from 3.He probably took to many shots today. You would think with 20 players one must have a decent shot.

I'm going to be brutally honest, but Wake was better than us today. We're simply just not very good when we play like this, however when things click, we are a respectable team - I'll touch on this later.

Stojakovic needs to learn how to shoot the ball better because everyone is taking away his driving lanes. Wilkinson showed some promise shooting the ball and so did Blacksher. Sissoko and Dort were the reason we hung in there - Sissoko and Dort have been warriors out there.

Rytis hitting a 3 is a luxury for us, but he HAS to hit at least another 3 because of how open he is. Same with DJ Campbell, we cannot afford to miss so many open 3's. I get it, it's hard to shoot the ball.

Most appalling stat to my eyes was Stojakovic+Wilkinson+Petraitis had 11 turnovers. That cannot happen.

But if we want to start winning or hang in there with Duke, we got to make our open shots and limit the turnovers. We also cannot have the opponent shooting 58% from the field.

The bolded was pretty appalling to my eyes period. Most of these TOs were the fault of Cal players being sloppy/lazy. Usually, that can be cleaned up pretty quickly with a wake up call.

Opposition coaches for the rest of Cal's games will likely look at the Wake Forest game and say, "Ah ha!". They'll be slapping and grabbing at every ball in Cal's hands. The question is, if you don't systematically practice that type of defense (as the announcers claimed Wake does), can you pull it off without racking up fouls. Cal players are occasionally very casual in passing the ball, and in particular, stare at their intended teammate for 1-2 seconds before passing - just asking for a turnover.

Is that guy on my team this year?

Agree, ball is WAY to sticky, and passes are not to slashers or bigs in motion (such as PnR)

I did like Blacksher's no look pocket pass to Mady for a dunk)

So disappointing that the students don't show. I thought we were going to keep building after some amazing home crowds last year, Furd, SC and UCLA in particular. But this season has been a definite step back for restoring the Haas energy.

Totally agree KAB-- really sad. I've spoken to my friend about how little marketing there is around games. I think I probably receive 1 email reminder for any game and that's it? The only reason I know to go to games is because at the beginning of the season I went through the schedule and put all the home games in my calendar. Hope this doesn't come off as an excuse, I know student attendance should be better regardless. But just an observation
