We are a very bad shooting team
At one point Madsen had 3 guards out there all under 6'2" (Blacksher-DJ-JW). Can someone help me understand how that's a winning combo against a team of this size?

Baseball game vs CSU Bakersfield happening simultaneously, a little free night baseball from the Haas balcony. Tied up in the top of the 10th. I might be ready to switch sports after that half.
Cal has decent shooters. Its madsen's offense that is not getting them decent looks. We have two 20 point scorers and they are going one on two, one on three to get a shoot off. If montgomery were coaching they will get a lot more open looks and higher percentages.
C'mon when is madsen going to bench blacksher. It's a fast break 3 on 1 and he travels.
Shooting 60% free throws 9-15 does not help, same problem last game.

Not holding my breath on that one. Biggest bust of the 2024 offseason.
It's both a coaching and talent issue. Jovan Blacksher is not going to win you games. Mark Madsen's defense is not going to win you games. Basketball is a team sport and you need a stout rotation 1-5 plus stellar coaching.

If we get them in foul trouble and hit 85% free throws, we might be in this.
I also noticed the players hesitate too much in offensive sets. Thinking too much. When they do swing it to an open man he hesitates and the defense recovers and its no longer a good shot. Wilkinson doesn't hesitate and maybe that is one reason why he is successful. The team shoots much better in an open court when they are able to run.
