John Wooden trash talked opposing players from his seat on the bench during games as they ran past him.

when Cronin went to UCLA I said he is a bad match

not a bad coach, but a bad match ... reminded me of Howland -- another good coach but bad match

UCLA recruits well because of their blue blood history and location

BUT Cronin had UCLA performing at a very high level with 3+ elite recruits so I fell on my sword

...but despite his success, I still think he's a bad match for UCLA (and would do miserably at Cal)

I wouldn't be happy with a coach like that, and can't imagine a lot of transfers out in this new world

I don't see the big deal here, especially compared to some of the press conferences he's given in the past. He basically said this was a bad matchup for them, they got lured into playing in a way that doesn't fit their strengths as a team, and they failed to follow the game plan.

I found it kind of entertaining, but I don't see this being the impetus for mass transfers.

That was in early January and not long afterwards they went on a seven game win streak taking down three ranked teams in the process. Seems like it lit a fire under the team.
