UCLA, SDSU, UCSD, St Mary's, Oregon, and Gonzaga appear to be the only teams on the west coast that made it. I'll be doing a deep dive on the season soon, but this is wild to me.

Not only is the west coast not in any top 4 seeds, there's only three former pac 10 teams if you include Arizona. I remember 20 years ago, Pasternack "inspiring" us with a speech about how the Pac 10 would always get at least 4 teams into the tourney. But always 5 or 6, and all we had to do was finish 6th.

Times have changed, innit?

Sorta the same in football. Basically Oregon and maybe Boise State is you don't c consider then a mid-west team made the playoffs. Face it, most of the top west coast talent doesn't stay one the coast anymore. Looking forward to Rod's report. I really like Auburn.

West coast athletics are declining because of culture and demographic shifts. Still lots of talent because of sheer population size but the days of building a competitive team with leftover regional players are over.

And it's wild that now that we are in this basketball league only 4 teams got in from the ACC, and UNC barely.

Btw, if you are going to include the Zags, might as well include Grand Canyon. They are frequent attendees now. Our guy Jovan Blacksher made it last year.

Too many SEC teams got in. I really think any team with a losing record in their conference should not qualify. Then more mid-majors could get in.

Travis DeCuire and 25-9 Montana are back in as a 14 seed.
