Brings back memories of the time I was accidentally overpaid at a company I was working for. I also had to pay back the overpayment.

Also happened to me. I had to pay it back

Having worked for public agencies, the overpayment thing is actually not a rarity. 400K is a lot, but probably not so much considering the amounts he actually makes.

Was this put in at Madsen's request or Knowlton's request? Makes more sense now why JK still around...

As I've asked before...is there something like this in Wilcox's contract? If so, makes more sense why no changes to report to Rivera.

Mark should be willing to forego $400k if JK disappears.

I doubt this is a unique clause for a head coach's contract. Many coaches know that a new AD might want to "make his mark on the program" by hiring a head coach of his own choosing. A contractual clause like this gives the incumbent head coach an easier path to finding another team before the new AD pushes him out.

I doubt this is a unique clause for a head coach's contract. Many coaches know that a new AD might want to "make his mark on the program" by hiring a head coach of his own choosing. A contractual clause like this gives the incumbent head coach an easier path to finding another team before the new AD pushes him out.

Seems like if the new AD really wants him gone he can just encourage him to look elsewhere and waive the buyout provision. A provision like this is not in the university's interest, but I doubt Madsen had to give up anything to get it.
