G-League teams should play all the other Minor League teams, even though the players make WAY LESS money.

Wow. Another step closer to former pros with college eligibility being able to return…

Maybe we can capitalize on Madsen's D League connections. Or Shareef's.

Oregon signed a chinese PG that was a top player in the CBA.
He played very well in an Oregon pre-season scrimmage against Utah.

Does that mean playing professionally no longer disqualifies you from playing in college?

if that's the case, we need to recruit oversea players in a MAJOR way!

Sure. An even better idea would be to replace the Cal logos with corporate sponsorship logos, maybe some of those law firms who already own a piece of Haas hardwood. Then we could just call the ACC the A-League, and start having players play cross league games with the G-league, the FU-league and the Flying Wallendas Turkish Semi-Pro league.
Our A-league guys (formerly known as students) wouldn't need to go to classes, obviously, not enough time with the travel schedule.
I mean, are we really pretending this has anything to do with a school when we're recruiting 18-30 year olds from any league on the globe?

Hey, in the early days of college football (you can go look at the records) Cal used to play Olympic Club, various military bases, and the occasional Native American team. So… why not?

Kidding aside, I'm not as concerned about this. If a G-league player wants to play college, by definition it's because he doesn't see making the NBA in that path, so I don't think you are going to get a lot of great players, though probably pretty good ones.

They are probably getting paid better in college too.

Cal had a WR before that was like 25 because he played minor league baseball. We didn't even have to use a scholarship because part of his baseball contract was they'd pay for college if baseball didn't work out

Just curious. Has the NCAA actually turned anything down in the last year or so? My suspicion is that they know they have no actual authority to enforce anything (like for instance any limits on NIL contracts between private entities and players) and they know the moment they try they will get sued and lose. Thus by saying yes to everything they maintain their jobs and their status as governing body even though they aren't actually governing anything.

There are likely lots of really really good players who will just miss the cut for the NBA but be excellent at the college level. Even if Cal had another Richard Solomon, Joe Shipp, or Brian Wethers* (or better yet, a redux of all three), that'd be something.

*For the record, I didn't include Jerome Randle as he really should've had a shot at the NBA, but (according to Jerome) his agent advised him it would be better to be undrafted than to be drafted in the second round, which ultimately hurt his NBA prospects.
