The Bears Picked up a commitment today from 2026 6-10/220 CATS Academy (Cambridge Arts, Technology and Science) power forward/center Nicolas Mitrovic. The junior reclassified from 2027 to 2026 and will join the Bears this summer.
"Definitely the great coaching staff and development," the newest Bear said about why Cal was the best choice for him. "I believe that Coach Madsen is a great coach and I believe he'll be able to teach me a lot about basketball."
Rated the #2 center in Massachusetts and #11 center nationally as well as #87 overall by 247 and a consensus 4 star player by all services, Mitrovic has solid range and handles for a big man and also excels on the boards and is a proficient shot blocker as well, averaging 1.8 block per game in EYBL events. He holds current offers from Cal, Seton Hall, La Salle, Pepperdine and UNLV.
Mitrovic’s parents grew up in Serbia before relocating to Spain, where Mitrovic was born. He subsequently grew up in both America and Moscow, Russia, moving frequently as a child before establishing his prep career on the East Coast, starting at Hoosac School Prep school in New York.. Hoosac competes in the NEPSAC (New England Preparatory School Athletic Council) at the AAA level, one of the most competitive high school basketball leagues in the country. He then transferred to CATS Academy where he played this season.
