Why didn't he just leave ? What a puppet ! He should've been smarter than this because just shut the whole program down !

Mark should've went to ASU. A very stupid decision.
He's very gullible and is always lied to (I don't blame him).

The program needs saving and it starts now.

I think many are overstating the perceived attractiveness of Madsen. He has done well at UVU and Cal, but he has yet to make ONE NCAA tourney appearance.

I am 100% sure he didn't make the NCAA tourney at Utah Valley.

Why did so many assume that Madsen would be a target of ASU?

He needs to get out. We dont deserve him. Hes not being set up to compete. Taking over a RSF court isnt a real 'practice facility' it's just a band-aid over a huge problm. The program needs saving and it starts now.

I don't know why you guys think he has better options. Cal was and is a good opportunity for him. He was fine at Utah Valley. He took over a team that was 12-4 in conference whose coach got a better gig. He didn't do a masterful rebuild. He won the conference his last year and went to one NIT. The coach before him had the same overall career record at UVU. The coach after him has a better one. He has done a solid job here. 2 NIT's in 7 years does not make a coach highly sought after. We are perfectly deserving of his services.
Which is not to say we don't need to up our game in NIL. I've said he deserves us pushing our chips in. But 1. We don't know if these guys are leaving or if they are testing the market. 2. We don't know that if they get a better offer that we won't match. Frankly, while I've said we need to keep both, they are not so good that we should throw a big pile of cash so that they don't even look at other offers. I'm good with them testing their value and we negotiate from there. 3. Everyone should have expected they would test their value market. Why wouldn't they. 4. When you sign guys through the transfer portal, you should expect they will test their value in the portal every year. 5. Even if they leave, you don't know money was the deciding factor.

I would add that if he keeps us at the 20 win/NIT level for a few years, and he does that while Cal does not up its NIL game (which will be readily apparent by the recruits we pull), or if he gets us into the tourney under those conditions, he will probably get his shot somewhere. But one year of modest success under trying circumstances isn't going to do it. He ain't there yet.
