I am sure the issue is that he played in 7 games this, his 4th year of eligibility, so he has to apply for a medical waiver to get that year back. In basketball they officially still have the rule that if you play in just one game you use up a year of eligibility we used to call it "burning the redshirt."

I was hoping this would be the case. As a veteran in Madsen's system, I think he can have a productive season next year, and it would really give us a boost, especially on the defensive end. It will be a win-win situation if he runs it back at Cal!

I hope Petratis is healthy enough to contribute for 30+ games...
